Easy to install, solved the non-locking problem I had. Remote locking/unlocking is fully functional again.

This part actually works no problems and it’s much cheaper than the original. I got a quote from VW 0r 354.00$ I have a 2005 VW GTI. The funny thing (no so funny) is I had to drive with a bungee cord holding my door for 4 days but it was worth it because they did not get my 700$ from me Part + inst…They got you by the b…when that part breaks because you can’t shut your door anymore and then they wait…..at 700$ I did not want to whole door!!! So thanks to Dorman i got a good price and I did the inst myself. For inst watch youtube video step-by-step. This should be the only review you read!!

I purchased this part and had the dealer put it in for me as they were working on the car anyway. The part has been in for a month and no problems as of yet. The dealer said Dorman is a good replacement part to use. They do have to make a small adjustment next week but should be fine. This has nothing to do with the part.

I bought this product due to my old one not registering it was unlocked and the alarm would go off everytime I opened the door or started the car. This product fixed my issue but I believe the new part was faulty. After i installed it the alarm issue was gone, but when i turn the lock cylinder to unlock my car with the key and return the key to its home position to pull the key out, the doors automatically lock right away. Overall fixed the most annoying issue but also created a much smaller issue.

Fixed one problem and caused another. Original never registered that the door was open. This fixed that problem but would lock itself and roll up the windows with any vibration on the door. This is a relatively big job to replace twice! I see another person had the exact same problems…

To be fair it does work and if you are not OCD like I am then it will more than meet your requirments. I bought this one and an OEM VW one for the other door. The mechanical movement is not the same. When you lock the door on the OEM side the plunger is nigh on flush with the top of the door panel (as it should be). It is not when you use the Dorman actuator. I took it apart three times but could not get it to come down flush. Also requires some intricate adjustments of the door handle cable. OEM not a problem. With the Dorman unit I had to adjust the cable 4 times before I got it to open 100% of the time. Happy Motoring.

This part will certainly fit, and work just as well as an OEM part, with a minor exception. The lock plunger, like others have said, does not sit flush with the door moulding when in the locked position. Not a very big deal, but for some reason it will not sit flush. Everything else works fine, I didn’t need to adjust any cables, and the materials are the same as OEM. The latch and latch housing are metal, and the other housing is plastic, same as OEM. To me it’s worth the price. If you a perfectly identical replacement door latch mechanism, get an OEM from the dealer, otherwise this will suffice.

I bought several of the less expensive actuators and had trouble with them all, the door would not open, or the door would not unlock with the remote, then I bought this one which does cost more but it works, the lights associated with the lock work, courtesy, interior lights that illuminate when the door is open all work and the door ajar alarm even sounds, Worth the extra money as opposed to the cheaper ones

Purchased this to replace on the driver side door on my 03 Jetta. It has not even been 6 months and it has already stopped working. Worst part is this was a 2 hour job at the Volkswagen dealership, so not only did I was over $100 on this part, but I also had to pay a mechanic to install this, so now I will have to pay one again to fix it.
The mistake of purchasing this part will end up costing me about $500. Next time I will not be purchasing again from here, and will instead let the dealer purchase it from their supplier.
