It does the job. Mounts easily if you know your way around cars a bit.

This Dorman product arrived at my door ahead of time & worked perfectly after installing them.I’m very happy with this purchase and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the supplier of the product.

Factory replacements come with push rods, this one did not. Make sure you have good push rods in working order or be prepared to make or otherwise source you own. Be prepared to order these for the other doors though. Mine all went out with months of one another. These were the best deal around and have been working well for years now.

Fit like factory. Took me a few hours to install just because it’s tricky to attach all four door handle rods, especially the outside handle one’s. Make sure to buy the door panel fasteners before you start this project, because you will for sure break some taking the panel off. They are cheaper to buy on Amazon than at the parts store.

This part was an exact fit and works great. The build quality is very good.
This part is not easy to replace. It’s not too difficult though.

My Jeep Cherokee driver side door stopped opening from the outside. Jeep dealership service dept was charging $190 for the part and another $200 for service to replace. I watched a quick video on how to replace it myself and then bought this actuator and replaced it within just over an hour. Works perfectly and saved me a boatload of money! It’s only been installed a few days but I see no reason why it would stop working. I’m not a mechanic and replacing the part was not difficult. Just takes some patience with squeezing your hand inside the door to reattach the part. If you are unsure of yourself take pictures with your phone of how everything is connected before disassembling the old acutator. I do recommend also buying a bag of door clips as you will break some popping the inside panel off.

I couldn’t find anyone selling the lock mechanisms for the rear doors, so I got this front mechanism and hoped that it would work. It did, but there’s an extra lever for a pushrod that supposed to go to the key cylinder when it’s installed in the front door. When you install it on the rear door, that lever will bind and prevent correct operation. However, I was easily able to cut off that lever with tin snips and install it anyway. It works perfectly. However, there is no lever to actuate child locks (since this is for a front door). So if you don’t need child locks on the rear doors, this will work. Get rid of the WJ quack!

This is the second time I’ve had to replace my actuator. The first time I bought an oem replacement. It came with the two horizontal connectors where this does not. First and foremost, it fits perfectly and works with no problems, so it will get the job done. My two issues with it are that it is noticeably louder than the oem part when locking and unlocking, but in a 16 year old truck that’s on it’s last legs, there are far worse noises coming from everywhere else. Secondly, the oem part comes with a small foam barrier/spacer around the opening where the door latch connects to the actuator which leaves a gap between the actuator and the door, but this doesn’t. Taking the one off of the old actuator is OK, but it’s already worn, and the adhesive doesn’t stick as well second time around, especially if you tried to free up the old actuator with solvents before deciding to replace it.
Another observation is that the four clips the connector bars go into seem to be a harder plastic than those in the oem product, so possible more prone to cracking, but no evidence at this point. Time will tell.
Because this doesn’t come with the horizontal connector bars, I had a lot of extra effort involved as I had to clean up the old ones. Chances are if you’re replacing this, your old ones are rusted and pitted, so if you don’t get new ones, you need to remove the rust and make sure you get them back to smooth where they connect to the actuator so that the movement is fluid. Not catastrophic effort in my case as they weren’t as rough as they were the first time I replaced the actuator, but still, took overnight soaking in CLR and 20-30 minutes of wet sanding with different grits.
If your connector bars are really badly rusted/pitted, you should probably consider an oem replacement, or a different aftermarket one that comes with connectors. If you’re concerned about a bit more noise when locking and unlocking, stick with oem. Otherwise, this fits well, installs easily, works fine and is significantly cheaper than oem.

I have a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo that my left rear passenger door lock would no longer lock and would make a dying goose sound when using the automatic locks. This product said it would fit the rear left passenger door. However, when I was replacing and taking off the rods from the old one to the new one I notice that there is an extra rod connection that was not on the old actuator. Very weird indeed, so I continued to install it and hope it would not jam or get stuck or trigger it to do something when the car is in motion or locking/unlocking the door. I’m still crossing my fingers.
Also, you should know after I had installed it, I notice that this actuator is missing the child lock. So this is NOT to replace the rear left passenger door as I was told. I suspect it is to replace the front left driver side door instead. As I do not have children and never used this feature in the pass, I have just left it alone. It works and that is all that matters.
If I sell the car I will just inform the next owners that the child lock is missing. I just hope that extra rod connection doesn’t screw it up somehow.

This product stopped working properly after only a few months of use. The product was installed about 60 days ago and atopped working properly within 30 days of installation. My daughter was away at her summer job and we couldn’t have the car serviced until today. I had to have this part replaced today. I checked about returns and it indicates the part is no longer returnable. That return time period is unsatisfactory for parts that failed within a short period of time.
