I installed this oil pressure sensor in late November 2024 to replace my factory sensor, which had failed and was causing the gauge to max out constantly. Installation on my 2004 GMC Sierra was straightforward, and it worked without issue at first. This sensor came with a screen, but my truck didn’t have one from the factory, so I left it out.
After two months, the oil pressure gauge started reading extremely low, down in the red at around 10 PSI and never above 20 PSI, even at high RPM. I replaced it with a different brand in late January 2025, but the issue continued with the other pressure gauge. Turns out the gasket on the oil pickup tube on my truck is failing, so I have another repair to make. As for this pressure gauge, it worked great and let me know right away when the low oil pressure issue first started.

Fit good on 6.0, once installed and the engine started it took about 45 seconds to register but not it registers as soon as the end gone starts as it should.

I was getting a check engine light and code PO523 high oil pressure. Watched lots of videos on how to change this thing out.
It is not an easy job but it’s doable. This sensor is way at the back of the motor on top near the firewall. Make sure you have a sensor socket and swivel adapter and small extensions. I used a headlamp and mirror just to see what was going on, because you can’t really see it directly and have to do a (ahem) reach around to get the job done!
Oh yeah, don’t drop the old sensor down into the darkness…I did and it was a PITA to get it out!
Make sure to remove the little filter under the sensor if it has one. You might need a small pick to get it out. The new sensor comes with a new little filter so make sure to put that in before installing the sensor.
The check engine light and code is finally cleared now!
