Amazon Customer –
Previously bought a “ZBN” branded crankshaft position sensor that did not fit my Mercedes E430, but this Dorman one did the job.

JUNK!!! My rating is generous!! It deserves NO stars!!!

Bought this for a spare to keep in the car toolbox. These things go bad and it’s worth it to have a spare so you don’t get stranded somewhere.

Not easy to install (not Dorman’s fault). Fixed the turning over and not starting problem. So far, it works great.

It takes about an hour to install by a professional mechanic. It is a tight fit and there is a heat shield around the part. The mechanic said that this is a good part. You would pay $267 Canadian for the part at a Mercedes dealer. The Dorman part worked and solved my problem of no starting after the engine is hot. I will update you on the longevity of the part.

I gave this brand a chance. I was going to order ab OEM ( Bosch) sensor for my Mercedes Benz, but I didn’t because the delivery on this sensor was faster and the price was a little better. I had gotten a “Check Engine” light and I put the scope on it and it indicated the crank sensor was sending error codes. Before it stranded me, I went ahead and ordered the part to replace the sensor.
Extremely difficult to replace based upon the sensors location behind the engine on the top of the bell housing. I was able to replace it but it was certainly not easy as the sensor can not be seen where its located so the entire process was simply by feel. If you are attempting this repair, MAKE SURE to put silicone in the end of the socket to help hold the T8 (female torx) bolt which holds the sensor in place because if you drop it, it could get stuck and not fall through to the floor and then you have trouble as this is not a common, get it at the hardware type of bolt holding the sensor in the housing.
Here is another tip to help you replace the Crank Sensor in a Mercedes Benz. Do NOT unhook the electrical connection to the sensor and you can use the wiring harness to remove the sensor once its unbolted and also use the electrical harness to install the new sensor when putting it back in the bell housing. If you unplug the sensor first, then the part is harder to hang onto and also harder to remove and nearly impossible to reinstall. Leave the plug on the crank sensor when removing it, install the plug onto the new part, before installing it. It makes the incredibly difficult process a little easier.
. The sensor lasted exactly 33 days then failed. It resulted in a tow bill and I had a service facility replace it this time. Lesson learned…………
