    Very Good

This is a perfect fit for a GMC Terrain/Chevy Equinox 2.4L engine. This is the replacement for the exhaust side that if yours is defective, will spit out a P0013 code on your scanner.

Both solenoids are beside eachother, under the air cleaner and engine cover on the left side of the engine (when looking at the engine while standing in front of the vehicle).

OBD Code – P0010 – Intake Solenoid needs replacement — This is not the product for it. Search for Dorman 917-215 for this one.
OBD Code – P0013 – Exhaust Solenoid needs replacement -This is the product (Dorman 917-216) to correct this code.

Remember, it is always advisable to change your oil/filter when changing these components.

After replacing the intake and output sensors, 90% of the engine stalling and jerking stopped. If I install the Camshaft sensor the problem should be 100% corrected.

These same exact parts and brands at O’Reilly were 2-3 times the price. On a GMC Terrain, there are 2 corresponding solenoids. I went to O’Reilly and bought both to fix my car, cost me $130 for the same exact part and brand! Before installing I did a quick check on Amazon and low and behold they were $25 each. Well worth waiting until the next day to get these in and returning the ones to O’Reilly. Great parts, not a single issue and amazing price!

Excellent product. Worked right away without any check engine

I had a Check Engine Light and Diagnostic Trouble Code (P0013) show on my scan tool. My car is a Chevy HHR with a 2.4 ecotech engine. Checked online with the 4 local part stores and all 4 said that I had to order and wait 5-7 days. I saved $20.00 and had my new part in 6 days. This is the exhaust cam solenoid! The electrical connectors are “keyed” to prevent the wrong part being installed.

This an easy part to change. You need a 8mm nutdriver to remove air cleaner, 10 mm socket and 6″ extension to remove hold down bolt, a pair of large pliers to pull old part out. Reassembly is reverse of removal with the exception that you will need a 8mm socket for the new bolt that comes in package. TIPS –> 1) Clean recess area where these solenoids are installed with brake cleaner and compressed air. When you take out the old one you are exposing internal oil passages. 2) Be gentle with electrical connectors! Patience! Don’t panic about mixing up connectors or intake and exhaust solenoids, they have “keyed” connectors. 3) Apply a bit of lubricant to the O-ring on the new part. 4) DO NOT overtighten!

Have always had good luck with dorman replacement parts. Fixed my check engine light by replacing the “intake” variable valve timing solenoid. Replaced the “exhaust” side as well since I already had the area uncovered. Replaced both in about 15 minutes. See YouTube for installation instructions.

Took less than 30 minutes to install. Anyone can do it. Just need a flat head screw driver, 8mm & a 10mm socket.

  9. B. Kiser

This worked great in my vehicle. I’ve ordered multiples of these and never had an issue. Highly Recommended!! AAA+++

These solenoids are interchangeable with the OEM models with one huge difference. The intake or exhaust placement is not color coded like the OEMs. You have to match to the electrical plugs on your vehicle. Probably best to do one at a time and not remove both until you have installed and verified the electrical plug matches. Besides that, a small card in the box tells you that an oil change is required after installation if one has not been performed recently. Thankfully, my daughter had her oil changed earlier in week or else I would have off to get a filter. Fit was good and have performed well, eliminating the stalling fits she was experiencing.
