This ambient air temperature sensor kit worked perfectly. It took all of 15 minutes for the install. All due to an excellent instructional video on Youtube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RrgeWWZ4dnk
I watched the video, made sure I had the supplies and the install was a breeze. The BMW service center wanted $345 for the same job. But at did include replacing the plastic piece behind my bumper where the previous sensor was attached. But the video shows how to attached it to the back side of the bumper with a zip tie.
Product wise, it came with the wires attached to the plug that took care of one step of the install process. I have Amazon Prime, and the kit was delivered on a Sunday, right before our rain storm hit. Great timing.

My heater and ac wi ere just blowing air not hot not cold. Just air!!!!! My outside temp read -44 I did a little research and found that this may be the cause. Called BMW they wanted $75 just for the part. Well I’m not paying that when I know its like a $20 part and is plug and play. Didnt even ask about install. Labor always gets you at the dealerships. Anyway unit came with wires that didn’t need to use the exsiting ones were fine no cuts or broken wires so I just removed the old placed the new one in and boom everything was fixed. No tools needed you may have to remove your passenger side foglight to get to the senser lucky for me someone stole mine so its not there right now. Ha Ha Ha. I hope who every stole it electricutes themselves installing it. But back to the product quick clean fix for my problem and a true plug and play nothing extra needed.

Back in October of 2012 I knocked out my ambient temp sensor on my ’00 528i while driving over a piece of tire on the highway on my way to work, and although I did not know what had happened that morning I figured it out on my way home that same day when the heat really kicked in and my A/C did not work. Needless to say I was skeptical about buying this item as with most things I suppose, you really need to just stop overthinking things and decide what you want to do. After seeing several reviews and posts on internet forums I decided to purchase this as the Texas heat was really beginning to take its toll on me. I am the type of person that will not even change my own oil, I’ll take it to the shop but usually by the time I get off work every shop is closed and besides I figured I had to get my hands dirty at some point. I went back and looked at the forums one last time, went outside armed with only a pair of wire cutters, my socket set to disconnect the battery lead as I wasn’t sure what kind of damage I was potentially looking at from my lack of experience and electrical tape of course. Approximately 10 minutes later, I taped up the wires and repositioned the sensor so it was out of harm’s way and connected the battery lead back on and I fired up my car with the very missed +96 on my display instead of -40 and cold air for the first time in almost 9 months. This was probably as hands on as I have gotten other than replacing my own headlights not too long ago, and this is enough for a while. A product that is packaged and includes all items as advertised, does what it is supposed to do, and relatively easy to install even for a person with no experience. AWESOME!

I buy these bad boys all the time and cut open the power mirror harness on HD trucks/ peterbilts mostly and retro fit these sensors in to make the check engine light go away for ambient air temp sensor codes when the original sensor fails. Better then replacing the $300+ harness.

When I bought my 2004 BMW 325i it was winter time and I didn’t check the AC until next summer. I was issues and turned out, the previous owner ran over a parking bump and ripped the under plastic cover along with this sensor which made the AC not work sometimes.
Installation was easy, I still don’t have a replacement plastic cover where this normally gets mounted to so I just installed in a near by place that would still work.
AC now works great! It’s been a while and I have no issue with AC. If your AC gets cold air and randomly doesn’t, then it does and some days it don’t.
Look at your ambient temperature, if it’s saying 90+ all the time or negative low number, chances are your sensor is bad or has been ripped off. Cheapest way to fix your AC without a trip to the stealer!!

I didn’t have a sensor to start with only bare wires due to fender liner missing from previous owner, so this was what I opted to buy. Works fine with no problems.
Some of the people said that the temperature was off by a couple degrees. I didn’t test this with other thermometers so I can’t say if it is off a couple degrees or not. In my case I didn’t care if it was 60 or 63 degrees. In the summer time when it is 85 and my car thought it was -40 just isn’t good for the car as many parts are computer controlled. My AC seems to run cooler but don’t know if this helped that or not, certainly for the price it was well worth it.

My wife’s BMW 323ci was showing -40 and her AC didn’t work properly. I realized that the ambient temp sensor had been ripped off somehow. This replacement was just the cure. I located the existing wires, connected the new wires and the sensor and secured them all in a safer location high in the bumper and now the AC works like new. BTW, it took about 20 minutes to make the fix and that’s just because I’m anal, it could’ve taken way less time if you just throw it on there and go.
