This is a manual window regulator, I added a power window conversion kit, so please do not get confused and note that this Dorman part is for hand crank manual window vehicles, mine became power when I added the conversion kit.
I bought this when my aftermarket (spal) power window kit Spal 33000030 Deluxe Power Window Kit had a problem getting the driver’s side window up all the way. The spal kit is a good kit, but the factory manual window regulator was so worn out, the circuit breaker was tripping before the windows were all the way up and often I had to grab the glass and pull it up with one hand, and push the power window button with the other hand. I tried to clean, re-grease and fix the old regulator before I found this part was available. My fix was the best I could do, but still didn’t help the old part much. With the new regulator, the window goes up and down very fast, it went down fast before, but now it goes up almost as fast as it goes down and the circuit breaker never trips.
This part is great, another reviewer correctly gives you all the steps to replace this, mine took longer because of all the power window conversion stuff to remove and I was done in 1 hour from start to finish, so on a vehicle without the power conversion it should take a lot less.
I greased all the rails and the sliding parts near the hand crank with the same grease I use for suspension parts (only because white lithium grease is not available where I live), this CRC 5037 White Lithium Grease – 10 Wt Oz. would be better, and stay in place longer when it gets hot outside. Getting the grease in where the plastic wheels pivot is a little difficult, which is another reason to buy the litium grease spray. I thought the plastic wheels (that fit into the tracks) looked a little loose on their pivots, but the new regulator works better than the factory one ever did. FYI: the factory regulator had plastic wheels also, but the Dorman design is less complicated, and in my opinion, less prone to cause dried grease to make it hard to crank.
Every bolt securing the regulator fits a 10mm socket. There are 3 bolts at the hand crank area, two more at about the same height closer to the rear of the door (they secure the short slotted piece shown in the lower left corner of the photo) and 2 bolts that secure the glass to the regulator. It’s best to Have a helper when you are securing the glass with duct tape in the fully up position, and again after the new regulator is in and you are securing the glass to the new regulator. You’ll need their help for about 5 minutes, 10 minutes max. The rest of the job is not difficult and is a one person job since there’s not room for two people.
If you are wondering if you can do this yourself: the difficulty rating for this would be 2 stars (maybe a little less),
My scale: one star being changing a tire, 5 stars being an engine rebuild. So a 2 star job is doable for anyone familiar with a socket set and duct tape. Also I’ve never use this in hand crank mode, only with the power window conversion kit.

Works much better than my old factory worn out part, and probably better than any part I could used.

Excellent product. Remove door furniture (surround for door opener, arm rest); remove window crank lever (look for instructions on IH8MUD.com); remove skin of the door using plastic automotive body tools (oddly sold here on Amazon); remove vapor barrier, retain and set aside. Crank window to the full down. Reach in with a 10MM socket and remove the screw that holds the window closest to the hinge. Crank the window up until you can see the other 10MM window retaining bolt in the access port near the top of the door. Run a piece of duct tape over outside of the window glass to the inside of the window glass (if you have tinted windows, stop at the metal at the top of the window) [this will hold the window glass in place]. Remove the three bolts that retain the crank mechanism and the two bolts that retain the little outbound gizmo. Install the window crank. Roll the new window crank to the full down and CAREFULLY lower the window glass to meet it. Install the two retaining bolts and you are done! Re-install door panel in reverse order.

This product works great for the FJ60 series as a solid aftermarker replacement regulator. I lubed the whole thing up too to ensure good movement before installing. The installation is easy, just watch your fingers as the whole thing acts as a big pair of scissors, especially weighted with glass.
