I was hesitant to give a 5 star review about this on principal but I really couldn’t think of anything I didn’t like about my experience with it! It fit exactly as advertised. The motor worked exactly like the OEM. Came with all the new hardware I needed. After watching the Dorman installation video on their YouTube channel it took me all of 15 minutes to remove the old unit and install this new one. I am super happy to have my window functioning again!

Easy to install. Just Google a YouTube video if you have issues. Awesome price compared to getting an official Jeep part and still cheaper than going thru the local NAPA for one of their non-Jeep brands. FYI..I did have a problem the first time I ordered. The drop down menu that double checks if its the correct part for my vehicle failed and I bought the wrong one. After returning it and confirming through a second source that this was the correct part I re-ordered. It does seem Amazon got that bug fixed as I checked to see if it was still an issue, but it has been fixed. I’d still probably check a 2nd source to confirm in future. That said…Price can’t be beat!

This worked on my 2000 jeep cherokee sport passenger door. Went in just like the old one came out. I can’t speak for how long this unit lasts as it’s only been installed for a week. But it does work. You should get your door panel wired up temporarily and make sure it does work before you finish putting your door panel back on.
Tips: 1) Save the parts on your old unit. You will need the bolts that attach to the glass. 2) If you have a problem getting the plastic fasteners that hold the rod on the door in the holes on your door, take a piece of 80 grit sand paper and sand around the tip and first rung “only” of the plastic fastener until you can cram the rest through and get it attached.

If you’re mechanically inclined, you can remove old unit and install this piece with relative ease. It was a bit aggrevating only because I didn’t remember the exact placement of the tail end of the worm gear. It should be placed just under the window track and against the inside door well. There’s just enough space for it to pass through the opening. If you leave it outside of this small area, it may interfere with the up and down travel of the glass.
Use masking or painters tape to hold the window glass up while installing the unit, it won’t leave tacky residue behind. When it’s time to attach the glass to the bracket, CAREFULLY bring the glass down and don’t allow one end to fall down further than the other or it will come out of the glass guide in the window part of the door. I did this, glass came out of guide, and I worked a short while getting back into place.
The unit works fine. It’s just slower at bringing the window glass up and down. The motor must be smaller than the OEM. I assume this is a cost cutting measure. Dorman did reinforce the area of failure by using metal instead of plastic to attach the window glass bracket to the worm gear.
Price is great, considering that I’ve seen retailers pushing it for as high as $290 plus!

I bought this because my window started to get very slow, and nearly wouldn’t roll back up one day, so I assumed it had to be the motor, even though there were no odd noises.
It installed easily. It came with 3 new bolts for the track part and 3 new nuts which I used for the motor, since they’re all the same size. It didn’t come with two new bolts for the actual window but my old ones were in perfect shape. It looks exactly like my old regulator, with insulation and the little plastic thing that sticks into a hole in the door to hold the cable part in place.
Well my window was still slow after I installed the new one and then it just stopped working altogether. I tracked it down to the window and lock power buttons. I had the common ‘window lock button’ problem a while back that xj’s get and so I sodder ed that and it fixed it but then the ‘auto’ driver’s window function stopped working but I didn’t mind.
Well now that I’ve looked at the circuit board again, the little circular metal discs under the rockers on the window buttons worn down so much over time that there wasn’t enough contact for the window to work correctly. I had enough of that and just ordered a whole new window and lock control thing….
Anyway long story short it works and I will change my rating accordingly if it fails any time soon.

Makes the window go up and down. Can’t ask for much more I guess. If I had to elaborate on it a little more I would say that the plastic piece that guides the regulator up and down on the line is what originally went out on the stock regulator; this has been replaced with a stronger metal one so I’d expect that this one would last a little longer than the stock one which worked for about 12 years so I’d imagine this one would last at least as long. The motor isn’t quite as powerful but it gets the job done but takes a couple seconds longer. No big deal at all considering its 100 bucks cheaper than I can find anywhere else for a stock one. For the price you cant ask for much more. I would buy again for any other faulty regulators.

It works well and fit perfectly. Quick ship and receive. Mine broke in the middle of a storm, why I rolled my window down is still a mystery. It took me 25 min to replace it. I had next day shipping and I actually got it the next day! If your window is starting to go up slow, don’t wait for it to break because it will. Mine was going up slow the day before and I ignored it. Don’t be me, do it now. The Jeep Cherokee 1997 and up has plastic gears and rust from the worm gear clogs it up and kills it. Don’t bother looking for one at the junk yard, that part is the first to go. If you did find one it would just break soon anyway.
