Recieved the Dorman 741-758 motor and regulator. Works great. Don’t bother with rivets to install the unit. Use 1/4″ bolts, nuts, lock washers etc. Absolutely easy to install. Unit works better than the original, as compared to remaining motors in vehicle. Popping rivets out of the factory installed unit was the most difficult aspect of the job.
A definite buy.

Well known and common problem with GM sedans that the power window motor burns out.
I previously purchased a cheaper regulator/motor from different vendor for the passenger side window. Brand new it would struggle to raise the windows. The Dorman product I purchased for the drivers side was far superior in construction and operation. The window now works better than factory original.
One word of caution. In their infinite wisdom, GM decide to use rivets instead of bolts to attach the regulator to the door. You have to drill or cut the rivets somehow to get the old unit out of the car. I used small bolts to install the replacement. Another tip, use a short piece of bent coat hanger to hold the window fully up while you replace the unit.
Community Organizer –
After I got this installed, the tabs on the car window did not line up with the studs on the bottom bar of the window regulator. After looking at the old regulator that I had removed, I realized that the sliding tab on the new regulator had been made immovable when the end of the bar had been crimped shut. I had to take the new regulator completely out, free the immovable sliding tab, and re-install the new regulator. After that, everything lined up perfectly and it works flawlessly.
Be warned that removal of the old unit in these is very difficult. OEM units are installed with stainless steel rivets, which are practically impossible to drill out. Use an angle grinder to remove the heads of the OEM rivets. You also probably won’t be able to find a rivet gun capable of installing new 1/4″ rivets, so plan on using short 1/4″-20 bolts, and either use Loctite threadlocker or the anti-vibe nuts with nylon inserts. You’ll have to hook up the window motor and cycle it to install two of the 1/4″-20 bolts before installing the new regulator in your door.

Recieved it in 2 days, unable to use Rivets provided. had no tool that big to install. I used 1/4″ bolts and lock tight. Ensure Bolts do not interfear with the windows movement. Its been only two days but works good as new.

I ordered both right and left regulators/motors. Both installations went without a hitch. The first one took me twice as long to install as the second one, but that’s because it was my first time doing it. A hint for ones who are not aware: The stainless steel rivets that hold on the factory window regulators are much easier to drill out if you use a titanium or cobalt coated drill bit, (1/4″). Use lube while drilling them out, and the bit will stay sharp much longer. If you don’t, they get dull quite fast.

Recieved a returned item without mounting rivets or screws which are normally included with product. Window regulator assembly wasn’t in the plastic bag to keep dust from collecting on the grease used to keep rollers running smoothly. Top rail that window mounts to was installed upside down, had to straighten tabs, slide out plastic squares and re-attach and bend tabs back into place. Works properly with a good fit now.
