My window broke as I was pulling into the airport to park. Not exactly knowing what was wrong with the window, I decided to order the part and had it shipped expedited. I took my door panel off and the existing window motor and track assembly. This new Dorman assemble fit exactly in the existing location and required zero modifications. The only difference was the size of the DC motor to run the window. Price was about half of what the dealership wanted just for the part. Installation took about an hour max.

Make sure you reinstall the shorter bolts to the window bracket. The bolts are not all the same length. Do not tighten up the bolts until you have them all in and threaded correctly. I had a little trouble lining up the bolts and threads and had to loosen them and push on the window to attach the bolt correctly and not cross thread it. Do not over tighten the bolts. Always start the bolts by hand (no power tools) so you don’t cross thread them. The Dorman window regulator fit better and easier than another brand I used in the past.

Missing bolt. Will have to go buy one to install. Bolts from failed part do not fit. This is not premium quality as it says on the box if I have to go buy extras parts to make it work !

Great replacement. Works just like the originals in my 98 Olds. I was pleasantly surprised to see the unit came with its own screws as well as plastic door pegs since some of mine broke in removing the door (technical name? The ribbed plastic pegs that attach door panel to frame). Very pleased to have been able to replace this myself and save hundreds of dollars.

Would be 5 stars if it wasn’t missing a screw, a common complaint. For my 2002 Buick Century, the screws from the old unit I removed were all exact fits, so meh…
Everything lined up perfectly and I installed it all in less than 5 minutes. No instructions needed as it only fit one way.
Some people complain that the new motor is as slow or slower than the old one that it’s replacing, but I never see those reviewers mentioning anything about greasing the unit and the track that the windows slide up and down in. Yes, you will need to grease everything. You will need grease in the channels in the door that the window slides in, you will need to grease the track that the slide which attached the window to the mechanism slides on as well. Then run the window up and down a few times and it will quickly start sliding up and down like brand new.
Be sure to use synthetic grease only. No petroleum based grease or oils should ever touch the rubber and nylon (velvet covered) track or any plastic. Just takes a few dabs and you’re good to go.

Installed this regulator on my ’98 Buick Century. It functions OK but the motor is definitely smaller in size and not as powerful as the one installed at the factory. The motor sounds like it is struggling when the window is retracted below the halfway point.

I specifically ordered this for $15 more than the other option because the picture is one with the PULLEY instead of the plastic track. The one I recieved had the plastic track like the original. I only gave it 4 stars instead of 3 because it came with the extra door fasteners. Still good quality for what it is, but try to get the one with the pulley.

We’ve had terrible luck with the OEM window regulator units in our 2003 Buick Century (twice replaced!) and I was ready to try an aftermarket solution.
Not only was this Dorman kit a PERFECT fit right down to the wiring harness. It was extremely easy to install.
Heres what you’ll need:
– patience (required to get the door panel off)
– a 10 mm deep well socket wrench (to remove the 2 armrest door bolts, the 2 bolts securing the window glass and the seven bolts securing the regulator and motor assembly)
-some tape (to hold the window in place while installing the new hardware) are all the tools required.
If this is a first time repair, check out YouTube for some removal and installation videos. They can be a big help in getting the door panel off (which is a pain). An extra set of the plastic fasteners is a good idea- they are designed for one-time installation.
One last tip. The rain shield on the inside of the door is a bit delicate (it’s essentially a big piece of plastic sheeting) so take your time removing it. Lay it flat with the adhesive side up while you’re installing the new hardware and you’ll be great.
