Thought I would try installing myself. So easy to install and works just as stated. Window glides up and down smoothly. Had replaced same regulator before at shop and paid about $150 for part and that did not even include the labor! This is a great value and the part is good quality.

Fit just like the original equipment part….Easy to install and works great. Go to You Tube and you can find a video clip on how to replace your window regulator. I put this on the passenger side front door on 2001 Grand AM SE and it went in easily and all the bolt holes lined up easily and the clips that attach to the glass fit as well. I would recommend this do the do-it-yourself. You can save $200 in labor by replacing this part yourself. NO special tools are needed.

Reason purchased: To replace existing window regulator and motor on a 99 Oldsmobile Alero
Installation: Not one hiccup. Install went perfectly and all bolt holes and related mounting points lined up perfectly. Even came with the plastic clip that holds one of the cables to the door. I don’t imagine most companies pay attention the those small details.
Comments: Hardware seems to be of quality construction with a high degree of accuracy when compared to existing/stock window regulator and motor. I guess only time will tell. Plastic is plastic and all plastics get brittle as time goes by I think. That was the failing point of the stock hardware. We’ll see how long this goes without breaking. I’ll try to remember to update if this breaks before the car does or if it starts acting up. Installed on 3-9-2014

In my research, the cheapest combination of part and seller was the Dorman regulator off Amazon. So, that’s good. After installing and using the regulator for two weeks, I have two issues:
1. The proportions of the regulator were slightly different than the OEM regulator, so that when the rear end of the window was completely raised, there was still a slight gap at the front end. In order to fix this problem, I drilled out one of the bolt holes so I could slide the front cable track further up.
2. The wiring harness was wired backward, so that up goes down and down goes up. I decided to live with this rather than go through the hassle of repurchasing and reinstalling.
(I will update this review when I have a sense of the longevity of the part.)
Overall, it’s a good cheap solution, but I encountered several issues that make it feel very cheap.

I bought this product for my oldsmobile alero because the plastic piece on the original one broke off. amazon said it would fit my car but was 5″ to short to fit so i took the piece off and put it on the original regulator and it worked fine

I ordered the Dorman version of this regulator. They are better built but they cost more but the extra price was worth it as I have had the cheaper ones break with-in a year. I was actually sent a cheap Taiwan copy. When I looked up the product number that was on the box on Amazon, that product was selling as the cheaper version on Amazon. I only wanted a Dorman and did not get it and paid extra. I contacted Amazon and got an RA and already sent it back but why should I have to pay the return shipping costs when I did not get what I ordered!!! Be carefull when you order this regulator and make sure its actually a Dorman you are going to get.

Purchased these parts for my daughters car as both her windows in the front had failed as Pontiac’s late 90’s power windows are pathetic. Anyway the dealer wanted several hundred dollars for “Genuine GM Parts”. Since I knew how good those were I talked with my mechanic and he recommended Dorman. I was able to get these parts via Amazon cheaper than thru a parts dealer in town. They have been installed and work flawlessly. I can’t comment on longevity but so far so good. The parts cost < $70 and the installation cost $70 so for less than the price of the GM part it's fixed.

While this product description clearly states “Front Driver Side”, it does not specify that it does not fit 2 door Grand Am’s / Alero’s. I found this product through Amazon’s “find parts that fit your vehicle” feature, and I was prompted to enter whether or not my car is a 2 door or 4 door. I assumed it would fit, because Amazon said it would. Unfortunately, as another reviewer has stated, it is about five inches too narrow to work properly in the coupe. Fortunately, the reason I was replacing the old one in the first place was because I broke the plastic clip that followed along one of the guide rails. I took off those clips from the new regulator and swapped them onto the old one. I also swapped the motor assemblies just for good measure. I greased up the rails a bit and put it all back together. I can’t really give the product a negative review because it seemed like it was high quality, but both the manufacturer and Amazon need to understand and make clear to buyers that there are two different regulators for the coupe and sedan.
