I installed this myself on a 2005 Nissan Altima 2.5L 4cyl with 178k miles. After reading reviews and doing tons of research to ensure I was buying the right part, I chose this specific Dorman model. The second bung plug actually came with the product and although I already had gotten one as a precaution, it was never needed. I can tell you be sure to tighten the one that comes on it as mine was very loose. I used the heat shield that came with it and had very minor adjustments to ensure a proper fit. The outside cover fit perfectly. The product installed easily, other than this model having a tight spot around the wiring harness box to get the bottom alternator bolt out. THAT took longer to do than the entire install. There was a little smoking after the first 50 miles or so maybe due to the newness, oils, etc. but that went away and by the math, we’re getting 31 mpg on the interstate at an avg of 72 mph (AL to KY). Oh yea, and most importantly, doing this myself I saved over a $1k as the mechanic in our area wanted $1200 to do the job that took me 2 hrs by myself. $200 of his price was labor, which I had no problem with, but the $980 “part” was a problem. smh

It came on time and installed fine. Has been running for a few months now and no problems so far.

I bought 2 other manifold converter between $300-$500 in advance auto parts that claimed “exact fit ” for the Altima 2005… Be aware that they are not exact fit (not bad but a little smaller ). This one is also a little smaller but it fits just like the expensive ones. The biggest thing about this one besides the price and life time warranty is the heat shield… No other will come with a heat shield or holes to screw the original shield. I drilled in my original shields and screw them on te holes this one has…. So far it has work great, engine light went off and hast come back in 3 months

    GREAT FOR THe PRICE!!!!!!!!

By the way, I returned the other ones to advance auto parts…

As others have said the heat shields are a real pain to get to fit Altima. I ordered this one only because I needed it delivered within 2 days and figured I’d muddle through the heat shield fitting but it really did turn out to be a bothersome experience. Original rear heat shields are drilled different so have to use the supplied ones. Other thing that seems strange is the original has a full length heat shield on the back while this one runs only half way down. Other than that operation seems good and the price is good.

WARNING!!!!! NOT FOR 07 and newer altimas. This will not fit an 07 or newer altima with federal or california emissions. Dorman 674-959 will only fit 06 and earlier altimas. Nissan redesigned the QR25DE engine in 2007 and this part will not fit the new style engine. Before i ordered it i checked on Rockautos website, Dormans site and Amazon, all three sites show this part to be correct for an 08 model. I assume Rockauto and Amazon get there fitment info from their suppliers so that would explain the discrepancy. I have emailed Dorman about their mistake and hopefully they will correct it soon. Dorman part number 674-933 is the correct shape and design for 07 and newer altimas.Dorman lists it as a california emissions manifold and this 674-959 as a federal emissions model.

It is not a slight manufacturing defect i am talking about either. This isnt a matter of heat shields lining up or small fitment issues. If you compare this part to the 674-933 you can plainly see that both parts couldnt possibly work on the same car, whether they are federal or california emissions. There are numerous manufacturers of manifolds for 08 altimas and when you look at the pictures of their manifolds, they all have the correct design and shape. BUT NOT DORMAN. They are the only ones who show a different design and shape between federal and california emission manifolds.

I looked it up on several OEM Nissan parts websites and the Nissan part number for a federal emissions manifold is 140E2JA02E, california emissions manifold is 140E2JA92E. The parts are identical in design and shape and they both match my original manifold/converter perfectly. They are also identical to dorman 674-933.

Dorman 674-959 matches 06 and earlier altimas only. Although the part is incorrect for my car it does seem to be made well and i will be ordering the 674-933 to replace it but this discrepancy needs to be corrected by Dorman.

In the attached pics you can plainly see the differences between the two parts. The downpipes are at different angles and the outlet flanges are as well, flanges have different bolt patterns and number of bolts also. The outlet flange on 674-959 is completely blocked by the engine block on an 08 model when you attempt to bolt it up. None of the heat shields are even close to fitting either. Compare the shape of the inlet ports also, they are incorrect and do not match up to the exhaust ports on the cylinder head.

I should have read more of the reviews before i ordered this part as others have had the same problem with 08 models also. Dont make the same mistake i did.

This did not fit my 2008 Altima 2.5S. The manifold fit great but the angle was not right and the lower flange only has 2 bolts and my car has 3 with a different angle.

This converter was purchased for a 2006 Nissan Altima 2.5S. Also required for install was a Berk Technology BT02-Plug O2 bung plug fitting. There were 2 oxygen sensor ports on the converter, but only one on the OEM converter. (you need the bung plug to seal off the lower port)
The price was good compared to OEM and local auto stores. I found that the accessory belt and alternator had to be partly dismounted to allow enough clearance to remove the OEM converter and to install the Dorman converter. All parts were included in the box except for the bung plug. The rear heat shield was included, but tin snips and a hammer were needed to shape it so that it would clear the coolant line behind the exhaust manifold. The OEM front heat shields were reused, but the mounting holes had to be slotted in a few places to fit the new converter. Upon startup there was visible smoke for about 5 minutes, which dissipated over time.
In all, it was a good cost savings, but the fitment issues with the heat shielding added to the install time. Total install was 4 hours.
