Only needed the under shifter part, and worked like a charm. Doesn’t need any tools. Just a firm push.

The dealer will try to tell you that you need the entire linkage replaced( I was quoted $800+) or they will try to charge $100+ for just the bushings. On a 2006 PT cruiser I was able to do this myself with simple tools and after watching a few you tube videos. Now there are 3 parts that come in this kit, the one with the bolt and plastic piece is for under the gearshift (I think) I haven’t tried to do that one yet and a large and small bushing. Note that the holes on each side will be different sizes, that is because there is a lip that will snap into place and keep the bushings from slipping off. I was able to push the smaller bushing into place with my fingers alone. The larger one required on old screw driver that was dulled a bit as to not slice the rubber. Again the lip snapped into place without trouble. I asked the question to some fellow buyers and some noted that they bought some clips to hold the bushings in place, probably not necessary unless you have them on upside down. I had the dealer actually install mine upside down and when they slipped off I was told $800 for the entire linkage and here we are. There are some other aftermarket bushings out there which come with clips. If these don’t hold up maybe I will give those a try.

Went to drive my car this spring and the first shift went terribly wrong. Original bushing disintegrated.
Ordered these and had it back up in 3 days.

Yeah it’s Dorman but it works to get those pesky bushings replaced to restore positive and crisp shifts.

Fit my 06, manual PT Cruiser. As others suggested, you will need 2 of these kits (manual vehicles anyway. Not sure about automatic cars) if you’re replacing both the rubber pieces under the console. My car wouldn’t shift into reverse, and required a new rubber piece for the reverse cable. The other linkage cable required a new rubber piece as well. So, If you’re going to take the time and effort to remove the console, might as well replace both right away.

Gromet easy to install, But the issue is to remove the center console, remove the driver’s seat, put the handbrake to the most upper level, then install all back again….

Excellent Dorman product origional not carried any longer in Autozone, Advanced Auto Parts, or O’Reilly’s Auto Parts anymore. A must have for any Neon or PT Cruiser owner as these are parts that must be replaced in any manuel drive vehicle from any brand of manufacturer.
Dont burn your clutch spring out or wear your flywheel or gears out! Dont waste money on mechanics from dodge dealerships or mechanic shops tell you the clutch is bad so junk it to me for 150 dollars!!!! Tell them your stick shift is loose and is hard to catch when driving so please change my shifter bushings!
And remember 99 percent of dealerships and mechanics are dishonest about this normal wear and tear problem on all make and model stick shift vehicles!!!
Thank you and buy from this seller for a decent price and quality product.
Sincerely, and Truthfully,
EZ Towing of Greensboro, NC
Thank you.
