Matt Stern –
2007.5 Chevy Silverado 2500HD 6.6L Duramax
I bought this water separator switch about 4 ½ months ago and installed it during a full service on my truck, using what I believed was a GM OEM or equivalent part. Right away, I noticed an issue—the connector wouldn’t clip properly, and I had to use a zip tie to secure the plug.
Fast forward a few months, and now it’s leaking fuel overnight from the drain nozzle on the bottom of the filter, leading to hard starts in the morning due to loss of prime.
I’ve owned this truck since new and have done all the maintenance myself. I can confidently say I would not recommend this switch for anyone with a similar model. The poor-quality casting on the drain is what caused the leak.
Don’t make the same mistake—go to NAPA or another trusted parts supplier and get the right one the first time.
