Our 1999 Chevy Suburban (K2500) with the 6.5 diesel suddenly would not start. After watching several youtube videos to get our courage up, we eventually traced our problem to this Power Drive Module. I was worried when I saw prices for a new/rebuilt fuel pump (north of $1,000) and when my son suggested we go this route, I was skeptical but hopeful. The added benefit is this kit allows one to mount the power module off engine in a location with less heat and vibration. Once we had the unit installed, the Suburban started up once we evacuated all the air and it has been running better than ever since. Given the price point of this kit vis-a-vis a rebuilt fuel pump, we have a backup kit on-hand if we expereince the same failure. A very cost effective solution.

Well, it works for now. It came with two of the hex bolts too short to allow the heatsink to attach to the module. And you want all 4 of these bolts mounted well, to keep water out. I bough more at the hardware store. I also sealed the edges with caulk as added moisture insurance. The two big transistors are not flush with the module, so they aren’t going to make contact with the heatsink. And they aren’t level either, so you can’t even machine the module block down to make contact. I gooped the top of the transistors up with lots of CPU thermal paste, in the hope it will make contact and allow thermal transfer. And the hope it won’t just won’t run off, given the large gap. I mounted the module inside my front bumper to get it out of the hot engine compartment, and give it lots of airflow. We’ll see how long it lasts.

Initially bought 2 of these one to get a truck running and the second as a spare and thats was 4 months ago and it has worked perfectly ended up using the second one to get a new to me truck running so now I’ll be buying two
more as back up units

Works well

Falta probarlo en un viaje más largo y ver si se mantiene. Muy importante instalarlo fuera del compartimento del motor.

Extension harness is cheap, broke as soon as I plugged it in. Gonna test the pmd tomorrow to see if that even works. The tiny screws that comes with could also be a little longer. So far not impressed.

Ordered for a spare to have while taking a long trip. Like the kit for relocation away from the engine heat. Does not include the resistor.
Customer –
Bought this part and was nervous about the dependability of it, but it solved the fueling problem, it’s been days and a few hundred miles placed on it as well as multiple starting and towing conditions in only a few days. If you need one, this is the one to buy!!!

This was a quick and easy installation. I saw a noticeable increase in fuel mileage right away

Install in my case involved removing partially the intake manifold/fuel shutoff solenoid. I left the old unit in place and just unplugged it and installed the extension harness and mounted the heatsink/unit with a #9 resistor.
The truck with this unit installed has run the best since I have owned it. After starting successfully for the first time in a week and idling smoothly for 15 min, I then plowed heavy wet snow for 45 minutes(Maine). Awesome
I might get some thermal insulated material like Arctic silver 5 for the mounting surface to the heat sink and I might even wire a small 12 volt fan on top of the heat sink.
Bottom line: It worked, it did what it said it would do, it saved me a bunch of money
