Perfect part for my 2012 Honda Odyssey
Karen Stanton –
Worked perfectly on the rear of my previous 2008 Honda Odessy. Put on a trailer hitch and pulled a van from Minnesota to northern, AL with no problem even though U-Haul said it could not be done…..

Shock absorbers were purchased for a 2012 Honda Odyssey. While they ‘fit’ the vehicle, the top section does have some concerns (See points below and attached pictures).
* Top section/head diameter comparison: OEM 50mm vs 35mm for replacement part.
* Metal thickness comparison: OEM 3.5mm vs 2mm for replacement part.
* Attachment Point Holes: OEM shock has round holes for the attachment points, which creates a snug fit vs. Detroit Axle brand has wide ‘universal’ holes that allow more side-to-side play even if tightened to spec.
I will likely be buying a different brand because of the hole fitment concerns and substantially thinner material. While they are working for now, I’m concerned about durability.
This is frustrating because I’ve completed all the work and will now have to uninstall & reinstall a different brand, which I probably won’t get all the rework completed in the return window timeframe.

Seems well built and fits as it should.

Neighbor recommended the brand and since I couldn’t find a guaranteed American made version, I would give them a shot. The shocks came well packaged and arrived ahead of schedule. They are an all steel construction. They have 1/4” less travel than my factory set, but that shouldn’t matter. The bushings are smaller than the originals, but they have a ten year warranty. They appear to be doing the job, my body roll and ride seems to have improved. For the value, I would purchase again. They are made in China.
For you DIY types, it took half hour for both sides. I didn’t even have to pull the tires. I lifted the body slightly with my floor jack to access the two body bolts.
My factory set wasn’t ten years old and were spent. Neither had any recovery, and one was falling apart. I’m glad one started leaking to get my attention. Maybe time to think about the front struts.
