Fits 2002 Saturn SC2

Perfect fit on my ’97 Saturn SL1. As I recall, it did come with thread sealant as pictured. (Sealant, not Loctite, folks!) This little baby fixed a whole bunch of problems on my Saturn. I heard the cooling fan come on for the first time in probably a decade and I was pretty stoked.

Fits great on my 1996 Saturn SL1. Quality seemed good. The old one was not bad but I was doing some related work so I replaced it. Hopefully it will last another 20 years. Maybe I should hope that I am not still driving this car in 20 years?

When to replace? Located on the upper side of the engine block this item should be replaced if:
HARD STARTING
ROUGH IDLE
TEMP GAUGE NOT WORKING
POOR FUEL ECONOMY
POOR PERFORMANCE
STUMBLING, AMONG MANY OTHER SYMPTOMS
NOTE: FOR OTHER TIPS ON THREE (3) OTHER SENSORS THAT ARE VITAL TO YOUR ENGINE’S PERFORMANCE & EVEN YOUR SAFETY SEE MY THOROUGH AND EXTENSIVE REVIEW ON THE ‘IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE’, YOU’LL BE GLAD YOU DID, AND YOU’LL LEARN A LOT AT THE SAME TIME, WHY NOT?
ThANKS!

Be careful. There are 2 temp sensors on SL1’s. The one you want goes to engine computer. It’s the one further back with TWO wires. Changing this sensor also noticeably improved overall performance. I’ve got my baby back!!

Fit my 2001 Saturn SC2. It is a solid replacement for the original factory resin sensor, which had cracked. It does not appear quite like the photo – instead it is a brass tip that is flat, not rounded. The pictured sensor looks more like the OEM resin one, and brass is better. Also, the thread sealant was white, not that that really matters as long as it is there.
Apparently you’re supposed to reset the PCM after installation, but I needed to take mine in for inspection right away, so I didn’t want to wipe out all the data, and it didn’t seem to be an issue. My coolant is finally registering as at temperature now, so the car is recognizing that and collecting the data for the emissions test without issue. I made my purchase a little over a month ago and it is still working fine. I am thoroughly satisfied with my purchase and will, thankfully, likely never have to buy another for the life of my vehicle (long may she live!).

Correct part for Saturn S series. I have a 99 SL2. Coolant Temp Sensor is now reading actual temp again so fan and cooling system are now working correctly.
