I purchased this starter less than a year ago and it has quit on me I contacted the manufacturer and the manufacturer said since it was Amazon who sold it to me and chipped it to me I would have to contact Amazon for the warranty exchange for the one you’re warranty but when I contact did Amazon Amazon said no this manufacturer is responsible for this so neither Amazon nor the manufacturer are willing to take responsibility and stand behind the warranty and replace a product that did not last what they guaranteed it would last I absolutely recommend you do not buy this starter whatsoever they will rob you of your money one that’s time to replace it due to manufacturer warranty exchange

I had several “old school” standard Chevy starters on my very mild small block Chevy, with headers. The last one worked only when I added a somewhat unknown starter bracket from the back of the starter to the block. This came on a select few Chevy’s back in the day. It worked and solved the overall starter failure problem but it never would mesh just as it should. I’d shim it etc and it worked but regardless it wasn’t proper engagement with the flexplate.
This starter here is an absolute value and a dream.. It weighs easily 1/3 of the original and makes for much more room when running headers and the install, with the weight and the smaller size is a breeze. And it meshes to the flexplate in perfect unison. And it sounds killer to boot when you fire it up.. that classic almost race car sound when the starter turns.
I don’t think you’d go wrong with this one on its intended application or like mine, one that is used in a retrofit situation.
I should note on this one, I needed the staggered bolt pattern for mounting, as some small block Chevy’s do. And this one fit the bill.
Spot on!

Work’s fine but bolts weren’t long enough . Used old bolts working fine

Great starter. Used to replace a starter that wouldn’t turn when hot. The starter it replaced was a reman Delco with under 3000 miles on it. This turns quickly and was easier to install being as it is the smaller gear reduction style. I installed this into a 91 C1500 4.3. Great retrofit and much smaller/lighter. I did have to remove the hydraulic slave cylinder from the belt housing to replace this.

I installed this in a 2000 GMC savana 3500 with 88k and the original AC delco starter. It went in with not fitment issues (though the bolt caps were metric, not a big deal though). Install was standard for a starter (hold in place, try not to drop it, and get some bolts started. What I was really impressed with was the power this thing puts out. Engine starts in a little bit over a second. Old starter took a few seconds to start. Product test sheet included shows a good test with strong power. I would definitely recommend this starter to anyone who needs to replace theirs.
Just remember, lay out your tools, check the old starter against the new one, and always check your electrical connectors before you install a new starter (replacing a worn 20 cent eyelet terminal now when the starter is out is a lot easier than dropping the starter out later and having to re-install all over again).

I was kind of skeptical of buying one of these cheap starters. Decided that for the price I couldn’t go wrong. It works fine and cranks my 454 over with no problems. Has been functioning in my c3500 dump truck all summer. It seems to be a well made part. I bought the extended warranty because I figured it was still cheaper than a new ac delco even with the warranty. So far I believe it was a good buy. If it dies I will disassemble it and inspect the parts they used and give an update.
Update 3/13/2021
Starter seems to have a very weak solenoid. Tried using it this winter during the cold and snow to plow. Click click click. Thought it was my new battery gone dead so tried jumping it with the battery charger and still just click click. Discovered if you clicked it enough it would crank and start. Not very happy with it after the winter we have had. Warmer weather and it starts like it is supposed to. Thought about just putting a new solenoid on it, but I did pay for the warranty. I’ll try to see how well they honor the warranty. If they don’t I may try putting the solenoid from my original starter on to see if it will work, but this one seemed to only give me problems when the temperature was below freezing.
