Bought to replace starter on my generac standby genset. Fits the 1.5 mitsubishi 4cyl on the water cooled 15kw and up units.

This starter was installed by a professional mechanic in charge of fleet vehicles. It was a simple installation, two bolts, two wires. He went ahead and installed new battery for good measures. Turned motor over and fired up first try. Run it for a few minutes, shut it down and then tried to re-start but the starter would not engage the flywheel. Tries multiple times thereafter and still no success. This is a rebuilt starter. Had to install the old starter back on the generator to get it to work consistently. Not happy with the outcome of this purchase.

This starter is a perfect fit but did not work the first time. I had to remove it because the clutch would not engage. There was grease packed in the clutch, I had to clean everything up and Scotch Brite the rubber so it would engage. Has worked perfectly since.

Complete junk and I should’ve read the reviews first. Oops. Bendix on this starter failed on the 3rd start. See the pictures: 1- this starter. Note molded metal. 2-old starter. Bendix is well-machined. 3-side by side comparison. 4-note the bendix failure where the base of the pinion sheared away from the body.
