Andrew –
First I’d like to state that this starter also fits 2001 Ford F250/350 4X4 V10, 6.8L engine. This is what I have and it was a direct bolt in. Amazon states it doesn’t fit but it does and is identical to the factory unit in size.
Starter appears to be well made and has silicone sealing the case, end cap and solenoid to help prevent water entry.
Regarding the power output it is the same as the factory unit not higher as advertised in Amazon. It cranks the motor just fine as did the factory unit when it was working correctly. Longevity, well, I will remember to post if it fails prematurely.

2002 F150 crew cab 4×4, 5.4v8. Top bolt was the challenge, but a stubby 3/8 ratchet did the trick and I was able to access the top bolt without to much fuss. Looks exactly like the origional part. Only time will tell how long it last. My origional lasted over 160k miles and 20+ years.

Fit perfectly on my 2007 Ford F150 Lariat. As mentioned in other reviews, the top bolt above the starter is a real bear to deal with, but once you get it free, installation is a bit easier. $56 versus $149 at local auto parts store, definitely worth the purchase, hopefully lasts as long as my original starter!

Amazon said the part would not fit on my Ford F-150 2010 XLT 5.4L. Started was well packaged and was well made. It fits and works like a charm. Sometimes reading reviews is worth it.

Easy install on my Ford truck. Good value. I bought a starter for one of my motorcycles in this brand. They work.

This starter was installed on my 2006 Ford Expedition 5.4 Engine. I was a little skeptical of the price. The quality is exceptional. I have had this on for a couple months now and no issues at all. Spins over much faster than the worn factory starter with 130k miles. This is actually my second DB starter, the other one I purchased was put on a 2001 Mercury Cougar. It’s been on for 6 months now without any issues. Both were well below the price of the parts store starters, and these are new without a core requirement and new parts. Very happy with this brand, for price and quality. Don’t hesitate to save yourself some money.

Starter was heavy and seems well made. Had it installed in my 2008 F150 in least then 2 hours. The top bolt is a little tough to get at but has nothing to do with this item but more to do with how this Ford truck is built. Fixed my problem got me back on the road. Lols to be an exact replica of factory part. We will see how it performs over time but so far so good.

I installed this on my F150 FX4 5.4l truck. The removal of the old one was brutal and included breaking the 9 oclock bolt. The installation was straight forward. The hardest part was getting the top bolt into the hole. Once I accomplished that I used a 90 degree adapter made by Dewalt along with an extension or two and ran the bolt down and tightened it. All the hardware was there. After it was installed and the battery hooked up I put my key in and it turned over great, better than new and started the truck. Since it had taken me several days to replace the starter I left it run for maybe 30 minutes. I then shut it down and tried to restart it. The gear failed to engaged the flywheel. I tried it again and it started. I will update this review if it continues to give me trouble. There are other things that could be the problem such as the cable going to the solenoid or the flywheel itself.
Update in just over a year the starter started not engaging the flywheel like the original one. It degraded to the point of needing to be replaced. Contacted the company outside of Amazon and they refused any support unless it was within 90 days. I ended up purchasing a new starter from a local parts store.

This replaced a locked up starter. It went in like a starter should and starts the truck like it should. So it’s got one over on the old starter by quite a shot there.
Unfortunately, the starter did not come with power windows, locks or a remote starting system, so the truck still does not have these things.
Also as I discovered, it neither whistles nor rings a bell when operating. As I did not detect these items on or in it when I was installing it, I can only say that it does not come with bells or whistles. Or a kazoo. There was no kazoo in the box.
The old starter also did not come with these things, but it also did not make a sound when I really needed it to, and this one does, so it’s got another one over on the old starter.
Most disappointingly, it did not come with a chauffeur; so I cannot recommend it to those who expect a chauffeur to be packaged in their starter box with the starter.
It did allow the engine to rotate when I tried turning it over by hand so it’s got one over on the old starter there too.
It also did not come pre-installed, so I had to do that myself. I would have had the mechanic install it, but the mechanic I took the truck to told me the engine was seized and we would need a new engine. It turned out that the starter was locked up and locked out, so the new starter has another one over on the old starter there too. Also I have one over on the mechanic, so throw another star on there for that.
Overall this is a good, solid starter, which is more than I can say about the old starter.
That is not entirely fair, the old starter wasn’t so much good, but it was very solid and made a lovely new dent in the dumpster when I chucked it in.
This new starter does have one fabulous feature that is just incomparable to any other. It allowed me to start the truck up a mere two Amazon prime days after the mechanic told me I needed a new engine so I could drive around the parking lot of the mechanic whilst staring at him, which was lovely as he seemed astonished and irritated.
Also, this starter does follow the law of gravity. It resisted quite a bit my attempt to hold it off the ground when I was installing it, but I persevered. The old starter also followed the ladle of gravity, which is what you get when you mistype “law of gravity”. Unfortunately, the only function the old starter performed well was as a demonstration of the law of gravity.
