I soaked some rusted drum and guitar hardware overnight and the rust virtualy disappears. Might require a tooth brush and elbow grease to finish the job, but most parts came out perfect without scrubbing. I also recommend a product called “Dry Coat Rust preventative spray” to use hand in hand with this. My process is: Soak > Scrub if required > Put items in a plastic cup > Spray with dry coat > Rotatate cup to coat > Leave on paper towel to dry. Bonus points for being reusable although it does get pretty murky after a few uses.

I bought this to test removingvrust on old used auto hardware. It worked surprisingly well. I put it in my ultrasonic cleaner & heated to 60° C. Set the timer for 30 minutes & this was the results. I recommend using a neutralizer when complete & heat dry to prevent flash rust from forming. My next mission is to try & do my own zinc electroplating.

Non-toxic, effective, and reusable (to some extent). There is a lot to like here. I tested it on a very rusty steel plate which was summarily cleaned down to the bare metal but it took about 7 days to get there. This test was an extreme case and since then I have used Evaporust on lighter rust and found it to be fast and effective.

I love this stuff. I wish it wasn’t quite so expensive, but the product works! I have used it to revive old rusty car parts and also used it to clean out all the rust of a metal fuel tank. Great product.

on my second round of application and expect I’ll need a third. I got this because popular mechanics said it was the best but it’s not doing that much more than the baking soda paste I used. However, I’ve learned that using aluminum foil to remove baking soda actually causes a helpful chemical reaction and I found this to be true. It worked very well but as my stove hasn’t been cleaned in 50 years, it didn’t do enough. Vinegar didn’t do much on my corrosive vintage stove either tho I do find it cleans other things very well. Melamine sponges help with rust too but the ones I got were generic and actually better than Mr. clean so that’s another option. I think this stuff could help. I suspect I didn’t leave it on long enough but I waited at least until it dried. The instructions on the bottle don’t say how long to wait. It just says to submerge your item (I had to spray it) and the rust will eventually go away but it’s up to you if you want to try it out. My stuff also isn’t submerged. It did help a little after spraying it on and leaving it for about 45 minutes.

I was amazed at how well this works on my tools, rusted bolts etc!! It takes the rust off right down to the smooth metal surface. It’s even reusable. Sometimes the metal surface will come out darkened, but this buffs off. I use this to prep surfaces with rusted holes for filling and repairing. It’s wonderful for my garden tools too.

Works well. If it’s heavy rust then soak it for 24hrs and use a small wire brush to help it. I had an old lump hammer head that was heavily rusted, now its clean to bare metal and painted with rust conversion paint. Looks new-ish with the new handle attached. I got the smaller jug, use a mesh paint filter when pouring it back into the container it came from.

This stuff works awesome, but I think it’s a little expensive for how much you get in the jug.
