No joke, this thing is hands down the best phone mount you could dream of for an R53 Mini. Because it’s designed specifically for this car, the sturdiness, togetherness and overall quality is 1000% better than any other mount I’ve owned. It’s pricey, but DAMN it’s good!! The magnet is strong and the metal plate is super thin so you can’t see it under my cloth case. It never slips (and my ride is HARSH with very little suspension) and isn’t difficult to pull away from the mount. Love, love, love it!!

Very happy with the install and design, but the magnet isn’t strong enough for the stiff suspension in the mini cooper. I should have gotten the design with the clamps. I have other magnet clamp phone mounts that feel stronger.
Installation was easiest by removing the tach and then installing to tach.

Don’t get me wrong, it is a on the pricey side. But does it work just great for the Mini Cooper! Mine’s a 2006 Mini Cooper S. I don’t know about other owners but I needed a Philps and a star pattern screw driver to install. The install took me about 10-15 mins!

Solid build exceeded expectations- only downside is no way to angle phone towards you, it is fixed at the angle that the speedometer sits at. At the price range it sits at I would expect it to be perfect.

Great fit and looks good. A bit pricy for what it is but there are no other good choices for an R53. Cravenspeed makes quality stuff so I knew I was getting a good product. Installation was simple but I lost a bolt somewhere in the steering column. Heed their advice; use a magnetic torx.

I have 3 Mini’s (R52, R53, R61) which I’ve been using the CD Slot magnet mounts in for years. They work great but tend to fall out of the cd slot often, and even broke the CD player on my R53 making it so it can no longer be used in that car.
Been eyeing these Cravenspeed mounts for quite some time, but honestly shy’d away because of the price.
Finally bit the bullet and ordered one yesterday.

I LOVE the “stock” aesthetic, which is very important to me and something I’ve always disliked about every other option out there.
Mini should’ve installed these with their cars man, you would t know it wasn’t a stock piece aside from the logo on the magnet mount itself.
After installing, went inside and ordered 2 more for the R53 and R61.
Can’t recommend this product enough!

The negative – Magnet not very good.
The kit didn’t come with the advertised scissor clip. Called customer service, they told me clip was not up to standard and stopped making it. Fast forward to 2 YRS LATER, I see they have made improvement to clip and is available again. I called customer service again and told them my story and they sent out the new clip to me.

Easy to install, works just fine. You have to be careful where the metal plate goes into your phone case, because it can block wireless charging. Also when tightening the magnetic mount itself, if it turns slightly the wrong way it can unscrew itself meaning you have to take it apart and reassemble the whole thing tightly.
