Fit tractor as advertised after minor modification to mounting btacket

Die Kraftstoffpumpe ist durch das Schauglas besser als das, was vorher eingebaut war.
So werden Verunreinigungen früher erkannt.

Hubby has an antique John Deere tractor and this avoided stupid prices dealer was charging. So far so good

I purchased a starter from DB Electrical to replace my dragging Delco Remy starter on my John Deere 1530 tractor. The original starter had a notch cast in to the back plate to allow clearance for the OEM fuel pump. The new starter did not allow clearance for the OEM fuel pump. Research led me to this fuel pump. The fuel pump installs in an inverted (upside down) position. The sediment bowl looks a little strange sitting on the top of the installed fuel pump. It does act as a sight glass to show that you have fuel to the fuel pump. The copy of the listing shows that the ports are 3/8 iron pipe thread. The pump I received had 1/8 pipe thread ports, the same as the OEM. The port locations are very similar if not exactly the same as the OEM fuel pump. Someone in the past had cross threaded the fuel line closest to the block. The fuel lines and flare nuts are made of steel and the 5/16 flare elbows are made of brass. The steel nut damaged the brass flare elbow but the flare nut itself was undamaged. I replaced both of the 5/16 flare by 1/8 pipe elbows. I started the flare nut on the pump to fuel filter line on the elbow closest to the block but left it loose. I installed the fuel pump to the block and then was able to get the flare nut started on the adaptor at the fuel filter. I then tightened both flare nuts. The line from the fuel tank to the pump was difficult to get lined up and the threads started without crossing. I had not drained the fuel tank and I ended up with over a quart of diesel fuel on the shop floor. Save yourself the aggravation and drain the fuel tank level lower than the height of the fuel line at the pump. The priming lever moves the fuel pump actuating arm which is cam driven. With the cam pushing fully on the actuating arm, there is no throw left for the priming lever. I had to bump the engine over several times before I was able to get any fuel flow using the priming lever. After installation the fuel pump gave about a quarter of an inch of clearance between itself and the new starter. I dried up the spilled fuel around the pump and did not detect any leaks after starting the engine. A day later there were still no leaks.

Manual lever does not work. The material seems cheap. The bolt on left is difficult to access due to design in casting. But it works, and for this price, I’m honestly not going to complain. If the primer lever worked, I’d give 5 stars.

This worked great; I order different parts from DB Electric and find the company to be very reliable. Parts are good quality and always exactly what is advertised.

Fit perfect.
