Just apply a very thin coat on a damp cloth. Wait d ten minutes and polished off with a terry cloth. Not difficult at all. Nice shine. We will see how long it lasts.

Prepping for winter, I put it on about a month ago, but can’t really comment on the longevity, because it’s mixed in with other products. That being said, if you FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS – PUT IT ON *THIN* – it’s not the pain to buff off that some others seem to have experienced.

I did a GOOD cleaning of the paint, using Meguiar’s products (New Car Kit for soap, the Clay Bar Kit, Ultimate Polish, #7, a.k.a. M7, and Ultimate Wax – to keep it all sealed in, “in the family,” as it were).

About a week later, I applied the 476, and following the directions, had ZERO problems with application and removal. I’ve used other brands (pastes), and some of them, while providing a good shine and some good protection, were much more difficult to remove, and/or left that white dust. Mind you, for good protection, wiping the car down with a microfiber after buffing is not a deal breaker.

I used a terry-covered foam applicator pad. Here’s a tip: Spray a mist of water into the air, and swing the pad through that mist. Not hose; not in the sink; MIST, as in spray bottle. If you’ve made it to the point of looking at this wax, you already have the spray bottles… Press the now-damp side of the pad against a towel to remove the excess. Yes, that’s ALL the dampness you need.

Give a few swipes on the wax and you’re probably good for 1/2 the roof of an average car. Don’t go digging into the wax, and if I haven’t mentioned it before, apply it THIN! Remember: It’s only the few-microns-thick coating that’s on the paint that’s coating/protecting it. Slathering it on like you’re icing a cake is only going to make more work for you, and it wastes the product. Once you use it, you’ll understand. You won’t want to waste it, including on other peoples’ vehicles. Let ‘em go get their own.

About a week later, I repeated the wash/476 waxing again. Still no problems.

For what it’s worth, I did follow-ups with 845 Insulator Wax (bought locally; doesn’t seem to leave that white staining on the black trim!), then with Meguiar’s #26 for the extra shine (“Highest DOI,” but doesn’t have a reputation for longevity. I was mostly playing at this point.) Followed that with the Ultimate Quik Wax, as it’s supposed to last a couple of weeks – maybe more – depending on if it’s parked in a garage or not, washing, etc.

I’m figuring it this way: if each layer is protecting the one below, then the softer waxes on top will go for a couple of months, and by the end of winter, I’ll STILL have the 476 beading the water away. (BTW, yes, I read the thread about testing multiple coats of wax on the silicon wafer, but, as I recall, that was using ONE product over and over again; not the heavier-to-lighter waxes. It’s all experimentation, in my mind.)

One note with the 476, it IS reputed to stain the black trim, so go slow around those bits; you can go faster once you’re away from that stuff.

It does NOT have cleaners, so if you don’t use a polish or clay first, it’s not going to give you the best possible results. If you’ve used a “Cleaner Wax” previously, you’ll still get good results. If you don’t, you’ll still get decent results; just not AS good.

For what it’s worth, the last time I washed the car, I found it rather difficult; the soap wouldn’t stay on the car! That’s just cool!

Do your search, and read the reviews: Collinite 476, with or without the word review after it. Read for yourself; I’m sold on it. Next stop: 915!

Best wax ever. Long lasting. Excellent shine.

  4. Amazon Customer

Good price, best shine and lasts long

  5. Eric L.

Good wax! It’s easy to apply and remove, but that means it won’t protect as long as a thicker paste wax. It has a smell, but I kind of like it. It gives a nice shine and the tin should last a while. Very good!

I live in Florida and this wax really holds up for UV protection and lasted for a year for relaxing. Follow the directions, use in shaded area and 2 X 2 foot section at a time. Thin coat works great, I apply with a moist foam or microfiber cloth. Let it dry to light haze, usually less than 2 minutes. Use a clean microfiber cloth by hand and the shine is great. A large can will last awhile. Also works great on wood furniture and other items.

I’m very much an amateur when it comes to detailing vehicles. Last year I bought a 2016 4Runner deep red color that was a rental. The paint looked well worn for a 2 year old vehicle that had been washed only. I didn’t wax it until this past weekend. After some research I decided on this product.

I also live on a dirt road. My truck sees a lot of highway mileage. I wanted a wax that would keep road dirt and grime off my truck.

Hands down the best wax I’ve used. I’m sure there is an advantage to this wax contains both polymer and Carnauba. Folks who know a lot more about detailing could tell you more about the differences. What I read in my research was that polymer in wax makes the coating last longer.

Don’t let the fact that it’s not a soft solid or liquid scare you away. This stiff it hard like shoe polish. It works great and is easy to apply. I applied and buffed once all around the truck. Then I applied one more coat lightly and went over the truck again with my air powered buffer. Amazing what a difference the second coat made.

I can’t comment on the durability of the wax but it seems like a great product. USA made as well. The tin it comes in looks old school and amazing at the same time

    Some “pro” tips:
Use a microfiber sponge to apply and don’t use too much. I did a small circular motion with a bit of pressure. Do one body panel at a time. Apply, let dry then buff.

Don’t let it dry too much. It’s hard to get off. Easier to do a 1 min dry time then buff off.

Get an orbital buffer. It’ll shine your vehicle better. They’re pretty cheap and effective.

If you get some on black plastic trim pieces wipe it off immediately. Use a clean dry microfiber cloth. It’ll all run out just don’t let it dry.

This wax arrived late yesterday as promised. I was concerned because the can was slightly dented and wax residue was apparent around the can. The can seemed to be solid and when I scraped off the residue I couldn’t find any breaches. I went out before sunrise today to open the can and wax a freshly prepared car. The wax seemed fine when the can was opened. It went on the vehicle as it should in approximately 68°F temperature. After a light hand buffing the car looked “show ready”, and I’m a rank amateur. This product exceeded my best hope. Pleasant smell although I wouldn’t use it in bear country. Very satisfied!
