Of course, the concept “stubborn stains,” a term used by the seller, is subjective, but in terms of my concept of that, for example the stain left on automobile paint when acidic bird droppings are left on it too long; I didn’t have any luck using the A.F.N.A.L. Clay towel for removing anything that tough. Or oxidation from exposure to the sun, which there’s plenty of here in the desert. The seller description is specific that it will remove oxidation; it didn’t, and that was disappointing to me. The seller also states that this clay towel is a “Fine Grade;” maybe I’m expecting too much.
As for all of the other assertions made by the seller as to the towel’s efficacy, I did find those to be true; using a lubricant, the towel did remove tree sap, the bird droppings still sitting on the paint, bug carcasses and associated viscera, and the general goo that accumulates on the paint surface of car. I also found it to smooth the slight surface “roughness” of aging paint and/or wax; maybe that’s what the seller means by oxidation. As the seller further states, the clay towel is effective for removing pollutants, and all that that implies.
As opposed to a clay bar, the towel is easier to use and will cover a larger area more quickly and efficiently; it really glides along when used in conjunction with a quality lubricant. It can be used in broad strokes with the flat of the hands or for more localized removal by pressing with the finger tips. The Clay towel can also be used on glass, plastic and to remove oxidation from rubber molding, which it does do.
Although it is marketed as a Clay Towel and “high-quality clay” is mentioned on the product description, the product packaging mentions “the most current polymer rubber technology paired with premium quality microfiber cloth,” and that’s what if feels like and appears to be. The product packaging doesn’t mention clay.
A simple rinse is the extent of the towel’s cleaning instructions and according to the seller’s statement, the cloth has a lifespan that exceeds that of clay; only time will tell.
Overall, my impression is that he A.F.N.A.L. Clay Bar Towel is a faster, simpler alternative to prepping and maintaining a cars finish, assuming the finish is already to a standard that upkeep is all that’s needed. In my opinion the Clay Bar Towel is not quite as effective as clay when heavy surface cleansing is needed; its completely non-abrasive.

Great alternative to clay baring that is faster and overall more efficient. Got this to use on my s2000 as it doesn’t have the best paint – mainly due to just being in storage. This has helped get the ball rolling with making it look great again. Overall, happy with it.

The A.F.N.A.L Clay Towel for detailing glided over my car’s surface and removed contaminants faster than a traditional clay bar. I use a mix of my regular soap in a spray bottle to wet and slick the surface and the towel. Does a great job on the larger areas but I still use my clay on tougher spots as it seems like it works faster for the tiny areas but the towel is so much faster when covering large, relatively clear surfaces.
