    Good product.

Worked great on my 2003 Honda Pilot. Put inline with power steering change and hose change added the filter as well. no issues, 6 months later. Not designed to be in original but I put it on the return line before the reservoir. Most room and longest run of hose that was relatively easy to reach.

People will install these and they will burst because their car isn’t meant to have a power steering filter. No kidding! On later SAAB 900s, that came from the factory with a power steering filter, this does the job without a problem. The original SAAB power steering filter is no longer made so this does the job and it was a good replacement for my leaky one!

This should not be used on a power steering system that is not meant to have a filter.

I installed this filter as manufacturer suggested, it was a piece of $4!+. Took my vehicle out and got within 100 yards of destination and my steering pump started to make noise., Any ways got to where I was going, popped my hood and the filter was dumping fluid killed the engine. The engine was to hot to work on so I did what I was going to do and let it cool down some, needless to say well it was cooled off when I got back and as I am putting the filter back together it started to rain it was such a treat to be working in the rain as the sun starts to go down well got it back together, now I start to go home and wouldn’t you know it the darn thing came apart again 3/4 of a mile from where I just left and only another 14 miles from home luckily it was in front of my friends house since I had no power steering fluid left on me and this time there wasn’t any parts left other then the two pieces that were clamped in the hose ends. The retaining clip filter and a spring are on a dirt road somewhere.

After installing a new pump, rack and pinion, and all new hoses, I thought it would be appropriate to install an in-line filter to keep the fluid free from debris. As you can see from the pictures, after the install, it began to leak on average 1 drop per 2 seconds. It leaked all over my power steering and air conditioning belts, and these will have to be replaced as well. At first, I thought it was the clamps that came with the filter, so I took them off and installed some different clamps. This had no affect on the leaking. Taking a closer look, I could see it was leaking from the seam where the filter was pressed together with a metal band. The kit does comes with another o-ring, but who wants to mess with something that should have been right in the first place?

After reading a review where a reviewer recounted the time the filter split in half and destroyed their pump, it’s clear there is a serious design and/or manufacturing error.

After installation it seems that there is less vibration in the line that it protects .

What can I say. It’s a filter. I won’t know if it is effective until it catches particles or not. I can tell you that the mesh you can see inside through the hose hole in the filter. I don’t know if the mesh is fine enough or not. I just installed it when I replaced the factory power steering pump in my 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 RWD. The only thing worth writing about that I did not care for were the clamps that came with us. They could not Close tight enough to get over the bump part of the barbed connector on the hose. Are used normal screw on hose clamps and those worked out just fine. The clamps are the only reason I didn’t give it a five star rating.
