Bought this to get a tachometer functionality because some people on a forum recommended this to get a tach for a Rav4 prime. The issue with the Rav4 prime (and not so much with this HUD) is the battery voltage is super inconsistent. Sometimes it’s over 14V, sometimes its at 12.8, 12.9V, and it can interfere w/ the voltage off, so unless if you’re okay at working out some inconsistencies with this display, maybe don’t get one for the Rav4 prime (I mean, the product description says it’s not compatible w/ hybrids).

The mounting tape wasn’t very strong, and the suction cup was initially not “suction” at all until I took the proper time to get it suctioned on the window, and it has held itself in place ever since. There’s an included screwdriver to remove the bottom plastic plate that you adhere the double sided tape to, I opted to removing that after getting the suction cup working properly, and used a piece of tape so the little remaining plastic bits have a soft place to sit on and doesn’t damage the dash.

3 control buttons lets you to cycle between different display modes/entering into the settings/switching different readings on subsections of the HUD, and you’re able to see readings like coolant temp, oil temp, transmission temp, turbo boost (if your car has a turbo), there’s not too much customization, but there is a blanket reading page that just shows everything possible, if you need something like that.

What is absolutely awful and not an excuse however, is the manual. There’s like…no instructions on setting the manual, and it feels like half of the settings don’t even do anything. There’s also no way to disable certain warnings, like “high coolant temp warning”, the only thing you can do is set it to an ungodly 200C. It also seems to shut itself off after the specified voltage after 3min regardless of what you set for the timer to turn this OBD2 off, at least that’s what I assume what that setting is supposed to do, but there’s no manual to tell me that. Given the price, this would absolutely be 5 stars had the manual actually detailed what all the settings did.

If you have 98-99 Nissan frontier this is the best option to fix the dreaded dead speedo issue. The speedo works fine below 45 but something happens over it, and it starts to read fast at 65 it was reading in the 70s. Rpm gauge is a little laggy but works fine. I was struggling with the clock settings it seems to only be in 30 min increments so I hope you are like me a happened to be doing this right time. I could not figure out if it can change from 24 hour to 12-hour clock but that’s not a big deal to me as I can read both fine. The engine code check works great and is super easy I love that. Plus, the ability to clear code makes checking if repairs fixed the issue so much easier. I will do some test on the fuel consumption tracker. All in all, day 1 I’m pretty happy with this. For the price this is the best bang for your buck fix for the cluster issues with 98-99 Frontiers. I will make update in the future if anything happens, or it’s been a year.

Used with my 2002 Sequoia to keep tabs on the engine since it has 230K miles.

Quality item, very good for keeping tabs on an older vehicle. Allows you to view most of the information coming from the ECU, including coolant temp, transmission temp, alternator voltage, some turbo information, couple other things.

The display is clear during the day (no glare) and the cord that it comes with is pretty easy to route and robust. Highly recommend for older vehicle.

Very good product that indicates the readings while u drive. Can be used as a digital speedometer when drives with a car having analogue speedometer. We can set alarm at preset speeds so that u will get warning sound when u exceed that speed and can avoid lots of speeding fines. Completely useful stuff……

لا انصح بالشراء اذا كانت السيارة سوبربان 2004 لانه لا يعمل
جربته على سيارة باثفايندر 2013 وكان ممتاز

The media could not be loaded.

Not having a temperature gauge sucks. Just bought this OBD scanner gauge from Amazon and it gives you accurate temp readings and more. It also doubles as a OBD scanner for faults. The screen is bright and easy to see and works great. Highly recommend for anyone without a temperature or boost gauge! The only downfall is that the response is a bit laggy. But that could change with a newer car

    work well for my car

This is a great device and I like it a lot. I would have given it 5 starts except for a couple of issues that I think may be the reason why this is shown as “frequently returned”. I think most users did not fiddle with it enough to make it work really well. I admit, my interest was perhaps a bit different from others so I was motivated to make it work. Here are the issues:
    1. The “users manual” is almost useless. It is written by a non-native English speaker and is very cumbersome – if you can read it at all. It has very tiny text so you need a magnifying glass to read it.
    2. The clock function is designed for international use so only shows 24-hour time values (14:30 = 2:30 PM)
    3. Setting the clock is confusing unless you realize that it uses GPS time which does not know the loca time zone. You cannot set the time exactly. You can only set it within 30 minutes and then the GPS will figure out the time zone.
    4. My car does not have a tachometer, compass or any engine instrumentation (it is a KIA pug-in hybrid) so I needed this to provide information from the OBD2 plug (it has a direct, wired plug-in – not bluetooth – which makes it much easier to use. Also, it does have the ability to show error codes and to clear the codes if needed so this is a plus. For things not in OBD2 (is has no magnetometer), it uses the GPS which is a great combination. It will also work in GPS mode only if you don’t need the engine instrumentation.
    5. The ad says it will not work with a plug-in hybrid (I didn’t notice that) or on trucks, etc. It seems to work with anything with an OBD2 port – even pre 2009. I have a 2006 and 2008 Ford truck and it works great on both of those.
    6. I love the shape and the suction cup mount. I put it in the very upper-left corner of the windshield where it is out of the field of view for driving but close enough to read even the small fonts.
    6. However, it took a lot of fiddling to make it work with my KIA but it was worth the effort. The instructions for auto turn-on and turn-off (by time or voltage) still do not make sense to me but by continuing to tweak the values, I was able to make it work and now it does everything I wanted.

Small & very little glare. My vehicle already has a digital speedometer that works properly & I can switch it from km/h to mph (driving down to Dayton, Ohio next month & don’t want to use my phone for NAV). The reason I got this is because when I use my vehicle’s NAV the digital speedometer is replaced with guidance prompts. All defaults were pretty close to what I needed. Speed adjustment had to be brought down to 102…spot on with GPS & speed warning signs. All vehicles are about 2% off in Canada! Adjusted motor displacement from 2.0 to 3.0l. Auto shut off is set to RPM (which is the best way to have it)…shuts down 10s after engine does. Radiator fluid temperature is a bit slower than my instrument panel one although still accurate when it stops. RPMs & voltage are accurate.
Only complaints would be: 1. Sound setting to off doesn’t silence to power up beep. 2. Sticky tape is a bit week (will replace it with double sided nano tape this weekend). 3. OBD connector is a bit shallow (my port is set further back so the cord gets bent slightly where it comes out of the connector).
    Otherwise everything is perfect.
