Very easy installation and the hood stays up on its own again! Worked great on our 2004 Beetle convertible 1.8l turbo. (Note: You may see my air filter assembly is removed. I am doing other work on the car. Removal of the air filter NOT required for removal/installation of the hood support gas shock)

Directions were a bit vague, unfortunately it was not clear how to remove the hold-on clips and I broke off a piece of plastic trying to remove them for the installation. However it doesn’t appear to have compromised the functionality, and otherwise it fit well (on a 2004 VW New Beetle GLS, 1.8L turbo) and holds the hood up well.
