  1. “JVC”

I installed these on my 2005 Pontiac Vibe and they went on just fine but they are a bit over one inch shorter than the originals thus the glass doesn’t open up as far. As long as I am careful it shouldn’t be a problem hitting my head( I’m 5’-10” ). The pressure is good when opening and holding the glass in place so they’re way better than what was on there. Are they a good deal? I think so— just be aware of the size difference.

Strong little shocks, they work great!

  5. 7723doug

Fitted them to a 2007 car within 10 minutes. Now no danger of the glass dropping on my fingers.

  6. cflick

Perfect replacement for my Toyota Matrix. Easy to install and works like brand new.

  7. Floridafraze

Perfect fit. Fast/easy Installation. Plenty of lift. Good price. Would buy them again.

These work well. When you are removing the old shocks, you don’t have to open the hatch window and can just open the rear hatch door. This is because the shocks don’t take much force to compress them. But, when you install the new shocks, they are difficult to compress. So, attach the upper part of the shock to the rear window first. Then, unlock your hatch window and close the hatch door. This will make it so that you don’t have to compress the shock at all and can now attach the lower part of the shock to the door frame. Otherwise, it may seem like the shock cannot be compressed to fit. Now that you have it attached to both the window and the door frame, you can close the hatch window.

These struts went into our 2007 Toyota Matrix XR in about 5 minutes, and they work beautifully!

For the modest expense that it cost for these parts, they have greatly improved our quality of life. We are constantly opening and closing the rear window on our car, and it is such a pleasure to have struts like these that work like brand new again. I didn’t realize how much of a pain it was to keep the window from falling down as I’m trying to put items in or take something out of the back of the car. It’s so nice to just pop the window open and have it solidly set in the upright position until, I want to close it.

I know, it seems like kind of an overboard review, but really, sometimes it just takes a small thing like this in your life to give you a disproportionate improvement that you then can’t enjoy the benefit of every day.

Shocks were not strong enough to support my son’s 2003 Matrix hatchback XR even though they were reviewed as working on that car. OEM parts we later bought and installed were had much more lifting force and worked well.
