I thought I would have to just unplug my radar detector every time I shut off the car, then I found this…
SUPER easy installation, works perfectly.
A great solution to a frustrating problem!
I could have gone to a dozen stores and none of them would have had this item!
Thank you!

Works just as advertised

The good:
– It works
– It comes with a variety of fuses
– 12v socket already attached
The bad:
– My dash cam power supply seems to want to come out of this socket… solved with electrical tape and zip ties
– Questionable quality fuses. I assume they’re okay… but hard to tell without deliberately blowing one.
– Included fuse puller is useless
– I’m not sure how may cycles of install/uninstall the fuse legs on this will survive… they’re kind of bendable

My picture shows it installed in a 2016 Subaru Forester to provide power to a dash cam. I simply inserted the fuse tap into the Accessory slot (the fuse removal tool isn’t the best, but worked fine for me), mounted the negative/ground wire to a convenient screw, and used a USB adapter for the dash cam cable. The BONATECH cables are longer than needed in this case, but the extra slack can be easily tucked away. Overall, this was a quick & easy solution with no need for extra steps like crimping wires. Very pleased.

In today’s vehicles we have “12 volt power supply” in the shape of a round port on our dash. Back when my truck was built it was just a cigarette lighter. Today’s vehicles are designed to turn the “12 volt power supply” off when you turn off your car. The cigarette lighter had to stay hot all the time just in case you needed an emergency smoke. That became a problem with my dash cam. Plugging it into the cigarette lighter port kept the camera on all the time and run my battery down. I could unplug it each time I stopped but I forgot. I put this in under the dash, used a fuse that only had power when the key was on, and plugged my dash cam in. Only thing I don’t like are the fuses have to block other fuses. But honestly, there is no way to prevent this. Having to load two fuses in a single holder is pretty much going to block anything. But it is very well made. Tight shrink wrap on all the connecting points. Tight fit with my usb to power adapter plug. This solved all my problems. I was also impressed how many extra fuses they sent. Pretty much stocked me up for emergency fuses in my truck.

Love it. It saved me $120. Had I gone to a car stereo shop to install, they would have solder the female cigarette lighter plug to the fuse adapter. This female adapter helped me to simply do it myself and plug it to the cigarette lighter fuse slot. If you are comfortable taking out some plastic molding in order to hide the wire, then you can totally do it yourself.

.. the blades are not long enough to seat well in the fuse sockets. Apparently, 9th gen civic fuses are a little recessed. I had to secure the wires well with zip ties so that the blades don’t keep popping off.
The lighter socket does come with a cover for when not in use, which is a plus.

Once I determined the right size fuses in my car, the small fuse tap worked perfectly. Easy to install.

I couldn’t hardwire my starlight headliner kit and refused to have any wires inside my car (cig port).
This thing? LIFESAVER! I’m going to recommend it to everyone! Thank you for such an amazing product! So underrated and needs to be talked about more!
