As with most other Matrix attachments, it’s surprisingly well made. It feels comfortable and solid.
Unlike other reviewers, I had no difficulty attaching the bonnet that came with it. I suspect that any problems others may have had were more with the bonnet than with the buffer itself. Most people will probably be buying other bonnets, so even if the bonnet that come with it were defective, it wouldn’t make a big difference.
The product description says that the buffer has “random” motion. That’s not quite true. The motion is not random, it’s just not circular. It’s often called “planetary motion” because the axis of the pad rotates at a different rate than the pad itself, creating a more complicated pattern than just a circle.
Being cordless is a BIG plus for a buffer. You want to focus on doing a good job while you’re often in an awkward position, not on keeping a power cord out of the way.
The biggest “problem” is that it’s a large attachment, so unless your tool bag is fairly empty, it won’t fit in with the other attachments. It also doesn’t fit in the modular boxes that come with some of the other attachments. This isn’t a flaw: it needs to be this size. In practice, it isn’t really a problem. Most of the other attachments are of the “repair and maintenance” type, so you want to keep them together as you’ll usually need more than one. This one is more of a specialized tool that you won’t be using while you’re fixing things. Chances are, you’re more likely to store it with your power washer than with your tools. I can’t deduct a star for being the size it needs to be.
So far, I’ve been very happy with every Matrix attachment I purchased (the only ones I don’t have are the chainsaw and the hedge trimmer, which I don’t need), and this buffer is no exception.

For Matrix users this is pretty convenient as a smaller/mid size buffer. What we cannot compare to is a full dedicated buffer which has other convenient features.
