I bought to screw onto my side post battery so I could have a trickle charger attached. I tried to screw onto the battery just to find the threaded end is way to narrow.

The good news is that these worked perfectly in my lithium-ion 12 volt battery that has an M8 x 1.25 terminal, but the bad news is that they are still not wide enough to securely hold a battery cable. A shim will probably be required, like it was in my case. [EDIT: Actually, the negative terminal size is correct and did not require a shim, but the positive terminal is too small and required a shim to properly fit the battery cable]. This is the second or third one that I’ve purchased that has this exact same problem (EDIT: except usually BOTH terminals are too small). I would suggest to the manufacturer that either they make these in regular and large (normal) sizes or better yet, include two shims with each set, just in case.

Key word is described. Meaning READ the product description before asking questions or complaining. It will save you some time and grief.
Those who reviewed this product, complaining about the threads being too small, did not read the product description. Same with those who ask questions about the threads.
The threads are 8mm. This is METRIC and not SAE/imperial!
I see many reviews and questions about products in general, asking or complaining about a product. These people are lazy and failed to read the product description.
My advice is to read the product description and/or read the owner’s manual.

I got a LiOn battery for my car that had flag terminals on the top and bought these to adapt the terminals so I didn’t have to cut off the factory battery clamps. Unfortunately the threaded post was too big to fit through the holes on the flag terminals. I drilled out the holes to allow them to fit. Putting them on the flag terminals necessarily meant that the connections were horizontal and because they are tapered quite a bit the clamps would not stay on. I ended up getting something similar from my local battery store that worked much better.
