I have a 2012 Volvo XC60 and receiving a check engine light to replace the front (bank1). By the time I returned from a road trip I realized I should have replaced both of them at the same time.

Volvo wanted +$100 for a new camshaft position sensor, which I thought was absurd. So, I did some research to find a good quality one that would match. After about 20 minutes of reading reviews about different makers of camshaft position sensors, I found that Beck/Arnley had a match, good reviews, and good reviews for most of their products. So, I ordered two. There is no sense in replacing just one. If one is going south, logically the other one will – sooner than later. Same logic with ball joint, control arms, vvt solenoids etc.
I installed both solenoids, as each arrived at different times – a day apart. No big deal. Installing them took all but 10 minutes. Even my Euro mechanic wanted more than $100 to install them! All service departments go off of “Book Time,” and not the actual time and difficulty or lack of. I watch a quick video on YouTube and it was ridiculously easy to install them. Thank you, YouTube!
I cleared the ECU, drove the car here & there, about 50 miles and a handful of starts. Check engine light never popped on.

My CEL was on with a code that could potentially match to a bad cam position sensor. This mfg had good reviews, so I ordered it and installed. It worked perfectly and my CEL is off.
