Gets the job done for sure. My Temperature gauge on my dashboard wasn’t working so I decided to replace both sensors one sends info the other one receives it ( they are both the same ). It works. Super fast and easy job, it gets messy because of the coolant but nothing major. Only time will tell to see how long these last

Worked fine

I had a P2181 code in my 2011 Audi S5 4.2L. The code is a coolant system fault. After adding coolant and realizing that the temp guage on my dash was showing way colder than the engine actually is I decided to suspect that the coolant temperature sensor was the issue. I was hoping that it was not the thermostat or something else that’s very expensive. It took me about an hour just to find it in my car but once I did I managed to remove the old one and install this new one. Problem solved!

My 2005 Audi A6 (C6) Quattro 3.2L started having a problem where the auxiliary fan would not turn off when the car was turned off. It took several minutes before the fan stopped, as if the engine was running hot.
The next morning, when I turned on the ignition on the cold engine, the temperate gauge went half way to operating temperature. After a 20 min drive and no sign of overheating, the aux fan again stayed on for a while after the engine was turned off.
The final straw that broke this camel’s back was when after sitting for 9 hours, I turned on the ignition on the car and the temp gauge went to full operating temperature.
Ten minutes into the drive home the gauge climbed close to HOT. It stayed just below that. I couldn’t detect any smell and my normal “idiot lights” that warn when the car does overheat did not come on. No check engine light either.
When I got home, I checked and the car was definitely not overheating. The fan stayed on for a while, as before and then turned off.
My research indicated the coolant temp sensor may be one of the possible culprits. So I ordered this one. It took 5 minutes to replace. On a cold engine, no coolant refill was required.
On my car, this sensor is conveniently located in the front. I just took off the black plastic cover that sits over the manifold and there it was on top of the coolant line.
I’m a middle aged female and had that replaced without incident.
When I was done, I turned on the ignition and temp gauge stayed at zero. Turned on the engine and let it run. Temp gauge went to operating temp and stayed there.
I will test drive it as well and update this review as needed.
For now, this major headache seems to have had an easy and cheap fix. 🙂
