This little sensor worked great on my 24 4Runner Off Road Premium. It’s hard to believe Toyota cheaped out and used a blank plug with no pins. The wires and connector were there so now the dash lights and radio display no longer blind me at night. Automatic display (day/night) is great.

Works amazing in a 2022 4Runner TRD OffRoad Premium. I can drive in the daytime with the headlights on and don’t have to fiddle with the dimmer switch.
A plastic trim tool is handy for removing the dummy plug.
Be very careful that you don’t drop the connector when disconnecting the dummy plug! It has a short cable and it could easily drop back into the hole. I just wedged a paper towel in the hole and it prevented the connector from disappearing.
Very happy with the purchase.

Plugged it in and dash lights and center display still go dark when headlights turned on during the day.
When you are in the dark, all stays bright until you turn on headlamps.

The correct TOYOTA part number is: LIGHT CONTROL SENSOR 89121-0E060. Easy plug and play. You could pay three figures at the dealer for this part; but why.

It works with 4runner. I drive a lot at night and when I turn my lights to Drl it always turned on the display to daylight mode. Now it stays night based on the sensor.
Only thing is it still not automatic by way of turning your headlights on or off, and is pretty aggressive with dimming while going under bridges in broad daylight. Other than that works as desired.

I’m so freaking angry at Toyota, why the heck couldn’t they spend the extra couple of pennies to include this from the factory!!! I am so happy that I did this upgrade, it took all of 4 minutes and it makes that vehicle sooo much nicer to drive now that the dash dims automatically. Be sure to look up a youtube video before you do this and it will only take a couple minutes like me. The main risk is dropping the wire harness into the dash! Stick a zip tie through the wires to prevent this, don’t even think of taking the risk of just holding onto it!
I’ve had this in for about 3 weeks now and it has worked perfectly since the first minute I installed. If you have a Toyota that doesn’t automatically adjust the dash brightness, you NEED to install this now!

For the most part, it’s plug and play with the 2021 Toyota 4Runner SR5 premium. I did have to make slight adjustments in the head unit. In the display setting you have to make sure Day mode is turned off. It will continuously keep day mode on if that is turned on.
Also you have to make sure your cluster light wheel to the left of the steering wheeling is not locked all the way to the top because that will also keep day mode on constantly.
Otherwise it works great and dims when low ambient light is detected. Thanks Mr. Toyota for saving .06 cents on putting a dummy instead of a light sensor.

This part does a great job of dimming your audio screen automatically. This one was very reasonably priced compared to the OEM Toyota part. Works great and very easy to install.
