Went through a hurricane and lost power for a week. Usually I have to lift the 5 gallon gas can which is heavy to hold while pouring it in the generator. This tool is fantastic!!! Never needed to lift the gas can at all. It siphoned the gas from the gas can with no issue. It also has an automatic shut off in the spout when the gas is full in the generator.

Now before I go crazy on this review, caution is needed on what you are actually filling. This is a great pump but CAUTION, do not use on small engines! Have one for the diesel containers, and one for the gas. My diesel subcompact, no stinking way am I going to be able to hold a 5gal jug up by steering wheel to fill up tank. This pump is a back saver. Now this is equipped with a pressure shutoff feature that will automatically turn off pump when tank your filling gets full. You do need to hold hose up in air for gas to drain back down into container otherwise you will make a very big mess. Do not use on small engines! This pump is way overkill to fill a push mower. As soon as is started to pump, the tank was full (almost overflowing). I was caught off guard. It is best not to use this with tanks smaller than 2 gallons. Topping off my wheelhorse tractor is a breeze now. The push mower, I will now transfer gas to the 2.5 gallon container so I can control flow better. But this is a great pump. It does come with different adapters to attach it to the container.

The product works on 4 x AA batteries. When we opened the battery compartment, only 2 sections had the spring at the negative terminal rendering it useless. While Amazon were fantastic at refunding our money ( thank you 😊), we really wanted this product and would have loved to have been offered a replacement with a functional battery compartment. Just unsure whether to order it again in case the issue is widespread. Some feedback would be greatly appreciated.

The photo from this unit implies that there’s a way to attach the loose end to the gas can or the unit itself for storage. This is not the case. While it works quite well on my diesel jerry cans and moves the fuel quickly and efficiently, the storage is quite a pain. I would like to just leave this thing in the can when I’m not using it or at least be able to store it securely. This is not an option. That said, I’m glad I got it. One tip: If you’re trying to run it from the ground up high, you can help yourself out by setting it up higher or at least level with the output. This saves on battery because the motor doesn’t have to work as hard. You do need to ensure you have static grounding for where the can is set and the vehicle/machine you’re putting fuel into so you don’t get a differential spark due to a difference in static charge, so be careful!

Bought this to transfer gas from the 5 gallon cans to my vehicles. During hurricane Milton, I lost power to the house. Had bought 50gallons of gas to run the generator. This was prior to buying this pump. Twice a day, I had to pick up the cans of gas and pour into the generator fuel tank. Kept thinking “I wish I had a transfer pump”. I had just bought another 50 gallons of gas a week afterwards and as I was preparing to fill the generators tank again, the power came back on. I used the extra gas in my vehicles.
