I had seen similar mitts online, but they were at least twice the price and fancy. This does the trick for a great price!

It was finally time to do a bit of a detail on my car. Having spotted more and more contaminants that wouldn’t come off during my regular washes, I decided to clay polish and wax my car.
Having used normal clay bars in the past, it’s a pretty tedious process. I was interested in giving this mitt a shot.
It is much more comfortable to use and the larger surface area makes the process quicker.
I would say that this mitt is about 90% effective compared to the old fashioned clay, but even if you have to go over a spot for a second time, it will be much quicker.
I finished my whole car in about half the time it usually takes me to clay bar it.
With the end result being equally clean of surface contamination.

It does work like a clay bar, although I found it took a bit more effort. That could have been because this was the 1st time I did this on my car. Because of my difficulties holding things the mitt was easy-to-use, fit my small hand well and I did not notice any scratches. Seems like it will last for quite a while too.

This clay mit might work OK for VERY light claying duties, but it’s not nearly as good as a good clay bar. I tried it on a family member’s car and it would NOT clean the paint well. I ended up using a good clay bar and the paint came out very slick and free of contaminants. I would not buy this again and do not recommend it.
A Happy Person –
I really wasn’t sure about this West Horse Clay Bar Mitt. I’ve used Clay Bars from numerous manufacturers over the years and wasn’t sure that this mitt wasn’t just another gimmick.
OK. I was wrong. This thing is SO much easier to use than clay bars! The mitt is well made and picked up embedded dirt and grime as well as most bars I’ve used. AND you can use it on windows too (although not on MAC {jk} LOL)
Just be sure you use a good lube. Theirs, of course, is an option, but I love Nanoskin Glide – here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DOS0KC8 because it’s good but also can be diluted with distilled water and it goes a long way.
Bottom line – this West Horse Clay Bar Mitt ROCKS!

I wanted something mostly to get rid of contaminants in the paint. You know, those orange spots known as rail dust embedded into the paint. They are extra noticeable on white paint like my car. Using a clay bar is really the only thing that can get this stuff out. Yes I’ve tried those iron remover sprays that smell bad, and yes they work to a degree. I’ve also tried different “clay mitts” that claim they work like clay, but much faster. Well, they all didn’t work.
When I saw this I was skeptical to order it. However, curiosity got the better of me. When I first opened the package I thought it is a bit different than the other clay mitts I have. The darker side of the mitt is very tacky/sticky. It’s in a waffle pattern, which I thought was a good design. The other mitts I have are also tacky (maybe a bit less than the West Horse one) but they are smooth. Where does the contaminants go in this case? With clay the stuff gets all embedded into the clay. With the West Horse I figured they could get trapped between the waffles.
My car is pretty dirty and I get a lot of contaminants on the back hatch. I went out and cleaned it with some Optimum No Rinse rinse less car wash first. Then I used concentrated ONR as my lubricant. I sprayed the car and I sprayed the West Horse mitt. I then rubbed the mitt over the surface of the paint. It glided smoothly over the pain. I will say the West Horse mitt was able to get rid of the orange spec mostly. However, the downside, is it took some rubbing back and forth to do so. It works but it’s not as easy as just a quick wipe. You will have to wipe it a few times for very contaminated areas. Another thing I noticed (but I don’t think it showed up on the video) is I could actually see cleaner paint where I wiped using the West Horse. Thats cleaner paint at the area I had already washed with ONR! With some success at hand I did try cleaning a large orange railroad rust spot and unfortunately I could not get it clean with the West Horse.
Overall I can see the West Horse mitt does work, which is great! However, I can see that for my purposes it will still require me to rub it a fair amount to clean it. I think to decontaminate a fairly clean car the West Horse should make the work quick and easy. For those more stubborn rail dusts you will need to spend a lot more time and effort. In the end, at least this product works and wasn’t a gimmick like the other mitts I have tried in the past! If you don’t like claying your car (who does?!) then give the West Horse a try!

Venturing into car detailing for the first time, I recently tried the Auto Detailing Clay Bar Mitt and was pleasantly surprised by its effectiveness and ease of use. As a novice, I was initially unsure about using a synthetic clay mitt, but the product’s user-friendly design made the process quite comfortable.
User Experience
The larger surface area of the mitt is a significant advantage. It not only sped up the detailing process but also ensured a thorough clean, reaching all those nooks and crannies with ease. The mitt glided smoothly over the car’s surface, and I could feel it lifting off the embedded dirt and contaminants, leaving the paint noticeably smoother.
Performance
Compared to traditional clay bars, this mitt offers a less aggressive cleaning, which might require a few extra passes and a bit more pressure. However, the convenience of simply rinsing off the contaminants instead of folding them into the clay makes it a worthwhile trade-off for me. It’s much easier to handle and maintain, especially for someone new to car detailing.
Tips for Use
– Lube is Key: Using a good lubricant is essential for the best results. I found that a dedicated clay lube like Nanoskin Glide works wonderfully, and it can be diluted to make it last longer.
– Preparation: Make sure to snow foam the car first to remove the loose dirt, which helps the mitt work more effectively.
– Maintenance: To keep the mitt in good condition, store it in a container with air circulation and a bit of lube or a splash of ONR (Optimum No Rinse).
Pros
– Ease of Use: Much simpler to use than traditional clay bars, especially for beginners.
– Efficiency: The larger surface area covers more ground quickly.
– Convenience: Rinsing off contaminants is easier than folding them into a clay bar.
Cons
– Less Aggressive: Requires more passes and pressure for heavily contaminated areas.
– Fit: The mitt could benefit from different sizes to fit various hand sizes better.
Conclusion
Overall, the Auto Detailing Clay Bar Mitt is a fantastic addition to my car detailing arsenal. It’s efficient, easy to use, and delivers excellent results with minimal effort. While it may not replace traditional clay bars for heavy-duty cleaning, it’s perfect for regular maintenance and keeping your car’s paint in great shape. Highly recommended for both beginners and seasoned detailers looking for a convenient and effective tool.

Ease of use, fitting and following the contours of the surface. Works well. No worries of dropping and doesn’t leave clay in fingernails. Also, reusable for how many time, unknown yet.

Out of the package, this mitt feels like quality clay. So, after washing my car, I used it (along with a popular detailing company’s spray lube) to clay the paint. And, while it worked very well, after cleaning with soap and water, the stickiness was gone. I tried using it again, and it seemed to work, but less effectively than before. As a result, I’m not confident that it will last for very many washes. One other note: when using the pad, don’t set it purple side down on the paint, because some of the dirt it had picked up will fall out. After using the mitt, I set it on my windshield while putting stuff away. But when I came back and picked up the mitt, you can see all of the debris that was left on the glass.
BEST FEATURES
– Feels good on the hand
– Worked well with lubricant
NEEDS IMPROVEMENT / SUGGESTIONS
– After cleaning with soap and water, most of the stickiness was gone.
– Doubtful that it will last for the “20-40 times” described in the product description.
CONCLUSION
This mitt worked very well the first time I used it, but I’m disappointed in the drop-off in performance after one use on a medium-sized coupe. As a result, I will look elsewhere when purchasing my next mitt.
