This was my 2nd or maybe 3rd coil replacement on a 31 year old Lawn Boy! It worked really well, and with slight air mix screw adjust as I do routinely, this mower which owes me nothing is starting on first or second pulls, and running quite well! The $10 or so investment was well worth it you might say!

It does require you to trim away about an inch square portion of the plastic base shroud on the mower in order to fit it in where the original factory coil is installed. This is easily done with a Dremel and a rotary cutter bit. Just study how your old one was removed and what clearance you will need to fit the new one in. Hint: it is the position of the spark plug cord on the coil that causes the hang up, when you trim the right amount of plastic away it will drop right in. To set the correct gap between the coil and the magneto, I used a hang tag to set the gap (about as thick as a business card) I had to make it a tight fit to get the best spark. A lot of online videos advise that the card should be easy to remove. That did not work on my mower, smaller gap = better spark.
