I RETURNED BUT. IT WOULD NOT FIT BECAUSE OF MY DUST COVER BEING BENT IN AND THE BOLTS WERE SO TIGHT I COULD NOT UNBOLT IT

After spending numerous hours and attempts at installing china aftermarket starter from big box stores. All the shimming n the world, the aftermarket starters were no good, failed to fit. I found those ac Delco part. Not only is it look good. But it was plug and play. No swimming required. First key bump and did it’s job beautiful without jamming. Highly recommend this for your old chevy 350 needs. Nothing fits better than usa parts on usa applications

Do not purchase this starter! I’ve had 3 so far within the past few weeks. The first one, the bendix on the starter kept hitting the flex plate instead of engaging the teeth. I ended up shimming it and it didn’t help, clearance we where it should’ve been. I just marked it as a faulty part. Returned it and ordered another one. Worked great for a day. Then the next day it started doing the same thing as the original one. Irritated, even though the clearance was good, I kept adding a shim and trying it again, same problem. Bendix kept hitting the flex plate. I got up to 6 shims (I KNOW) and I was still having the same problem. I just figured it was maybe just a bad batch of starters. So I wait a few weeks and ordered yet ANOTHER one. This one works great… for the first 2 starts. Then 3rd start, the bendix wouldn’t retract. It kept spinning as if it was trying to start the motor after it was already started and the key was released. Even after the key was off and out of the ignition, it kept turning over the motor. I had to disconnect the battery to get it retract and disengage. Extremely disappointed with AC Delco at the moment. I was going to take a video of the 3rd starter, but it wasn’t worth risking the teeth on my flexplate haha.

The fact shims are not needed to install this starter saved our bacon. We could not get the old shim in while installing this starter. We gave up and set aside the shim. This new starter worked beautifully without it. It is pretty heavy and took the two of us to hold and mount it (we are not young or spry by any stretch of the imagination). If two old farts can get it installed, anyone can. As for longevity, that remains to be seen. It’s been installed only a couple of months. Our old starter had a heat shield which we easily transferred. I did notice the teeth opening was quite a bit larger than old one. Hoping this will not cause an issue with water getting inside? This went on a 93 GMC with a 5.7 liter V8.

A large and heavy starter . It looked orginal OEM to me and worked fine on my Chevy 1990 K1500 with 5.7L and 700R transmission. Only possible negitives I have is it needed a longer bolt on one side than the existing smaller after market starter, only has a 2 year warranty and it was made in China.

I didn’t like how heavy it was. I ordered it for my 94 Chevy Silverado but i ordered the wrong one. I ordered the big fat starter but what i needed was a smaller version. I was able to put the bigger one to use anyhow. I replaced the one on my ’76 Chevy C1500 with the bigger starter. Still, i got a good product, without any damage,at a great value.
