I am so glad this replacement part does the job! It was fairly easy to install, but my husband was very careful with removing all the parts of my truck dashboard top and putting it back together and this ambient light sensor fits my Tahoe and works wonderfully.

My 2010 Vette was getting slow to react to ambient light changes. Center dash cover pops up, new sensor plugs in and dash cover snaps right back down. Be sure you warm those plastic taps so they wont be cold and brittle. This new sensor switched to daylight by the time I backed out and began to move forward. Problem solved.

Excellent. Replaced my old sensor that was cracked on the top and broke when I unplugged it. Good buy, and the cheapest place to get it was Amazon.
I used this on a 2004 Sierra 2500 4X4 Crew Cab Denali, although they are a common item for many GM vehicles.
If you don’t have this sensor, it isn’t really a safety issue, as all that will happen is your full headlights will be on when driving rather than daylights only (during the day).
If you have to remove your dash, remember this sensor will turn and pop out. Then remove the dash, and unplug. Be careful with the plastic plug that connectors to the sensor. I recommend dielectric grease to ensure a good connection, and make it easier to remove if you have to in the future.
When you replace your dash, put the dash on, but do not screw in or use the front keepers. Then reach underneath and place the sensor through, turn to get it seated fully, then turn again to lock in.
Then you can screw back in your dash. There are front keepers for the dash, and if you don’t use them your dash will rattle when driving. It is a pain, but I recommend lining up the bottom, but do you seat in, and sliding forward while pressing down on the front near the windshield. You will be able to feel the metal keepers at the front in front of the dash, and press down to see if the dash is properly seated. I recommend you start on the passenger side, and then move to the drivers side.

This did NOT fit my 2005 2500 pickup at indicated. I was a waste of my money. I had to order another one at my local dealership. Thumbs down!!!
