My ABS and Stabilitrak lights kept coming on my 2011 Buick Regal. I invested in the BlueDriver LSB2 Bluetooth Pro OBDII Scan Tool from Amazon.com which reads and clears ABS codes. I cleared the code (C0040) several times and kept getting the same code for the front right hub and / or ABS switch sensor. I chose to try the ABS switch sensor first as it is the cheaper option. After I installed the new ABS sensor, I cleared the ABS code and it hasn’t come back on since! I highly recommend replacing the ABS wheel sensor before you spend more money and replace the hub.

Purchased these replacement wheel speed sensors to repair the Stabilitrak/ABS malfunction error. These are high-quality OEM parts that fit perfectly. They resolved the problem and everything is back in working order. This was a repair on my 2010 Buick LaCrosse. Dealership wanted $375.00 (Parts and Labor). The repair took just a little over an hour to do both front sensors. This is a relatively easy DIY repair. Easy way to save some $$$ if you know this is your problem.

ABS light and “Service Stabilitrack” error message came on in my 2010 Buick LaCrosse. Dealer wanted $1600 to replace the two front wheel speed sensors and said I might also need a new differential control module at a cost of $3600 – or it might just need “reprogramming” which would be included in the $1600 fee. I actually laughed at him – couldn’t help it. After googling the problem, I bought two of these OEM GM sensors for $18.95 each and just had them installed for $174 in labor by a local auto repair shop. Both problems were immediately resolved as I suspected they would be. In researching the problem on the internet I noted that several Dealerships had quoted similar ridiculous prices to others for this simple job. My advice is to only have Dealerships do warranty work @ no cost to you.
Want to also mention that Amazon’s “Garage” feature, where they keep information about your vehicle on file and tell you if parts you’re looking at will probably fit or not, was extremely helpful in making the selection of the proper sensor for my vehicle. Nice feature.
