This stuff is costly but it’s the only proven fluid to work in the versatrak system
Update: I’ve noticed some users of this fluid only change the fluid. The correct way is a flushing sequence.
Drive the vehicle, drain and refill the fluid, do the figure eights to engage the rear differential, drain that fluid out and refill.

Worked great for my Rendezvous rear end fluid change. I drove figure eights for a few minutes until the moaning sound started. Then I drained the fluid and filled it back up. I then went and drove figure eights for a few minutes until the moaning stopped. Finally I made sure the fluid was still full by topping it off with another ounce or two. I only used about 3 1/4 of the bottles for my rear, but this leaves me with enough to do my transfer case now.
My only complaint is that this fluid is really pricey, but much cheaper here on Amazon. You could save a few bucks making your own versatrak fluid with some of the recipes found online. The $20-30 you may save is nothing compared to a new rear end if your mix doesn’t work. This works perfectly and I’m glad I spent the extra money.

Factory fluid at “low” prices, what could be better! I have read a number of reviews that say the new oil fixes the groaning in the rear Versatrak differential unit. My experience is that you can do the figure eights to get rid of the sound with the oil that’s in the differential now. Just as a test, I drove the eights for about 20 minutes to get the rear quiet, then changed the fluid (due for normal service change), and then drove the car. The noise was still there, but now only took about 10 minutes of eights to get rid of the sound. Not sure if I could keep doing eights occasionally to eliminate the sound. The groan only happens on tight. slow turns, so it really doesn’t bother me. Summary – if you are buying this oil (or any alternative) to get rid of the groan, save your money and just drive in figure eights for a while. Then repeat as necessary. Only buy this stuff when you need to change the fluid. The noise is independent of the fluid quality (unless you have the wrong fluid in there). BTW – I needed about 3.5 bottles to change my diff. – did not need a pump to top off the fluid.

Ok, for the Montana rear end growl:
You need to change the oil then drive say, 60 miles(just let’s your normal driving levels reach the 60).
Now replace the fluid again and drive 60 more.
Then replace your oil one last time.
Now I know this suggestion might sound like one of those things everyone says like, balance your tires or switch to this brand, but it worked for me. My van went from a loud, consistent howl, to a little quieter or different each change, to normal.

I have a 2004 pontiac aztek. The rear groaning sound was happening everytime I turned the wheel driving slowly forward and reverse. When I drained the old fluid out it was a yellowish color and there was quite a lot of black fine shavings caked inside the rear differential. I used a small toothbrush and reached inside to get as much as possible to clean it out spent a good 30 minutes doing so. No flush because I felt doig the toothbrush thing did the trick and it did. Amazingly after filling it up til the fluid was pouring out of the top hole I plugged it up tightened them down then took it to an empty parking lot and drove about 10 figure 8’s slowly. The sound is 100% gone.
In case you’re wondering this Versitrak fluid is 100% legit and same stuff you’d buy at the dealer just $10 cheaper. I recommend this seller to anyone who’s car that takes this fluid.

It worked as expected. Shipping was fast. What more is there to say, it’s OEM gear oil?
