Plug did not fit my 2001 GMC Sierra 2500 HD with the Allison and 8.1 L Vortec

The part fit perfectly, biggest issue was the ATC fuse was also blown, the two seem to go together. Later models have a different fuse. Also note the original part had serious threadlocker on the bolts making them extremely tough to get out, but there is enough room to use an impact wrench to get them out. Put threadlock on when reinstalling.
Part comes set in the Neutral position, your vehicle is most likely not in Neutral (on the xfer case). Plug it in, make sure the fuse is good and set the switch to Neutral. Popped right in.

Ordered and installed in August and the encoder motor did not work. Left vehicle with mechanic before traveling from Montana residence to second home in California. Due to backlog, mechanic could not get to this until first week of November, which was past the return date. Unit did not work and prior encoder motor was installed and did work. This unit arrived with no AC Delco packaging which was suspect from the outset. Would like this replaced under warranty.

Oem part for 1998 tahoe 350CID Vortec.
Fit my transfer case exactly.
Part comes in the neutral position. Leave it as is to install.
I had to manually turn the TRANSFER CASE to neutral (because old selecter moter didn’t work no more) with a 5/8 open wrench after removing the broken selector, which we are replacing if you are reading this. (Just drop front drive shaft and wiggle it out) then the selector motor is exposed.
3 bolts an 2 plugs and it’s out. Then the shift knob is exposed and do make sure the transfer case is in neutral or the bolt holes won’t line up for reassembly.
Everything fits together easy if its right. 1 hour job.
