I have other chargers but I also have a bunch of vehicle and a ton of batteries. I don’t use them all often enough to keep the batteries charged. Eventually some end up low or dead. So I have been slowly getting more trickle chargers to keep them maintained and ready to go. This one works good because it works on most types of batteries including LiFePO4. It also has repair mode but I wouldn’t suggest using it on larger batteries. It has a nice display that gives all the information you need.

I got this for two of my cars that do a lot of sitting during the summer, as I use them during winter or on longer trips. I’ve found that even with new duralast batteries, they will self discharge in a month or so to point that I cannot startup the car to charge off of the alternator. This charger has been great for trickle charging overnight every few weeks.

Using the Pulse Repair function I was able to improve the performance of my golf cart. Each battery took 24 hours to complete. The improvement was modest, but real.

The idea of a charger that plugs into the wall directly seems good but it’s actually a little bulky and difficult – in retrospect I would probably pick one with a cord.. If your socket isn’t really tight it can fall out or disengage and not get power. It does do a good job trickle charging standard batteries. Other reviews noted issues with LiP04 batteries boltage so I have not tried it on one of those.

I’m a huge supporter of ‘Maintainer’ type battery chargers. I’ve used one for decades, and I rarely need to replace my riding lawn mower’s battery. My current battery has lasted for nearly 9 seasons. It’s a sealed battery for sure, but I don’t let it go dead during the winter. It’s constantly on a ‘Float’ type charger during the long winter days. I avoid the $4.99 special at the local hardware store; the charger featured here is much better.

The charger doubles as a regular charger, albeit a slow charger, but it shines as a battery maintainer or float charger. All batteries have a ‘Self-Discharge’ curve. I’m trying to avoid the weeds here, but this is caused by several things, whether it’s a flooded lead acid battery or a LiFe battery. Lead batteries, if left on their own, can have a buildup of sulfate crystals on the lead plates; this can drain the current and essentially turn the acid back to water. LiFe batteries have a different set of issues when left to fend for themselves, and either way, they will discharge. However, the solution is the same: just get this trickle/float charger. It will pay for itself in one season.

Sorry about the cameraman’s incompetence holding the camera, you might need to stand on your head to see the meters. Or you can take my word for it. I’m testing the charger with a 12-volt Lithium LiFe battery that I use in the Radio Ham Shack for emergencies. It’s charged from Solar but also via this float charger. The digital display on the charger toggles between Volts and Current. You can see its voltmeter is pretty much spot on; however, the charge current reads a bit high. The manufacturer says it does 1.4A, but my Fluke reads about 1.6A, which is not a big deal at all. The two-tenths of an amp is not a problem for maintaining a battery.

Now, I should point out that it also has a battery ‘Repair’ feature. It’s a nice idea; however, I did not test it. It appears to be built pretty well, so I assume the ‘Repair’ cycle works as expected. Just remember, the ‘Repair’ feature is only for lead acid and AGM batteries. AGM means Absorbent Glass Mat; they are the same as flooded lead acid, but the ‘Acid’ is soaked in sheets of fiberglass to resist spills.

If I had to find a ‘Nit’ to pick, it would be nice to have a short AC plug and cord. It’s a bit cumbersome to plug the black box into an outlet and still read it. But that’s just me… How do I feel about it? I’m sold. I like mine. I have several types from various manufacturers, and this one is built very well, plus the price is outstanding ~!~

Totally happy with the product it actually not only charges my no acid batteries but it charged my battery on my truck I was surprised it was cool plugged it in boom boom it was done didn’t take too long either great charger thanks again

Picked this up to keep a couple of older 12V batteries in good shape, and so far, it does the job. It’s compact, lightweight, and the digital display makes it easy to see what’s going on. The alligator clips and connectors feel decent, not super high-end, but they work fine.

It’s solid for maintaining batteries and topping them off, but don’t expect it to bring a completely dead battery back to life. The repair mode does seem to help slightly with weaker batteries, but if it’s totally gone, this won’t save it. Also, keep in mind it works better for lead-acid and AGM batteries—if you’re dealing with LiFePO4, you’ll want to double-check compatibility.

Overall, for the price, it’s a good tool for keeping batteries from dying on you, but it’s not magic.

  8. High Quality

This charger generally works OK, although it sometimes seems to provide higher voltage than it should for LiFePO4 batteries. It’s main downfall is the design of the wall plug. It would have been much nicer to have a cord. Right now, you either need a dedicated double outlet near where you are charging, or an extension cord, as this will cover an entire outlet clumsily. The use of SAE plugs does make the charging end flexible – I just wish the power end were as flexible.
