Drill your hole, cinch up the retaining nut and fix two power wires with somewhere between 10 and 24 volts on them. It just plain works. The USB A and C ports can both fast charge a 2019 or newer Samsung device. But it will charge your old regular slow charge devices. If you touch the power switch, it will turn off. If it loses power, it will turn itself back on automatically. Depending on your usage, the power draw can be very high on this one. Plan on a decent size battery between this one and a solar panel.

Very disappointing. I did an electrical system upgrade on my boat and put this charger into the panel. It looked nice and when I wired it, it appeared to turn on. Light was on and power button turned it on and off, so I assumed it works and never bothered to check if it actually charges anything while assembling the panel on my workbench in the basement. It took me a while to mount it on the boat and even longer to get it out to the water. Long behold, the USB plugs are all dead. No charge. Just a “nice” blue light and an on/off button. Looks like it is too late to return in back to amazon, so I am stuck with a $14 piece of trash. Ended up ordering and replacing it with a different plug which worked fine this morning. Test it immediately before installing it anywhere. It could be a lemon.

I installed this port in place of the original 12v outlet on my Harley. It takes some minor modification to make it fit just right, but it’s well worth the time. And very much worth the money.
Attached to the USB cable from the stereo, my phone would barely charge. Attached to a usb adapter plugged into the old 12v outlet, my phone would charge moderately. With this port, I can plug mine and my wife’s phone both in, and a GoPro and they all charge super quick. I was impressed! One USB port (#2) slows down if both usb 3.0 are in use, but it was still much faster than anything I’ve tried on the bike so far.
The weather proof cap should be fastened into the ports when not in use to prevent dust, dirt or moisture from getting inside the port, but it’s easy to manipulate even while on the road if necessary.
The power switch would be my only complaint. It’s a “blister” type button but only requires your finger to simply touch it, much like you would the touch screen in your phone. No pressure required to turn it on or off. This takes some getting used to if plugging a cord in each time you use it. Be sure to turn it on. I think an actual rubber covered button would be a better switch for this purpose.
