This is a pretty robust cable solid steel core. “which is the only one I can use in this application” It works great. These usually seem to last years depending on usage. We use these on a vehicle crusher so, they do see allot of usage. Generally the ball inside tears up the worm style grooves then they no longer work. These come pre greased in that area. But, you will want to add lube in the actual cable tube, if you want it to work well for years. The more friction possibilities, the quicker it will break. I expect this will last many years. It’s built just as well as the original one, I replaced it with.
