I had a poor ground. My car would sometimes show it was overheating but using a temperature gun I verified it wasn’t. I started noticing the radio cut out and finally noticed the volt meter would drop to 10V or less when the head lights were turned on. Figured out the engine had a poor ground to the chassis. Connected one of these ground straps from the engine block to the frame and now all my problems are gone. Voltage remains above 12V at all times now.
