While I really like my VW TDIs (and yes, I have two of them), an ABS wheel sensor seems to fail at least once per quarter between the two of them, lighting the dash like a Christmas tree. I finally got a diagnostic computer so I can figure out which wheel it is now; this is my first attempt at replacing a sensor myself … front left wheel this time.
Much easier process than I expected, considering what a shop charges to diagnose and do the work. Access to the sensor surprisingly easy with wheel removed. The correct hex key in a 20v impact driver made easy work removing the attaching bolt. I had to use a flathead and a strong pull to get the old sensor out, and used anti-sieze on the base of this replacement.
This one sensor is working so far to clear codes. Will update the review if either it fails or if another on my car gets replaced and I have a second success. Fingers crossed!
