My OEM knock sensor physically disintegrated after 20+ years. Purchasing this off-brand sensor was a mistake. After install, I still had a faulty sensor code. When I removed it, I took apart the plastic casing and saw that the inner wire wasn’t even soldered, so this sensor was DOA.
On a 99 Civic EX, this sensor is located in a difficult place to access. Honda prices this sensor high because it knows these aftermarket options are a total gamble, but they’re seriously not worth the headache… it’s best to avoid this product and others like it… just go with OEM.

This sensor is constructed poorly compared to the OEM and other aftermarket sensors. The plastic electrical connector base is weakly pressed on to the back of the metal sensor body. The slightest force (like trying to connect the sensor cable) is all it takes for the plastic base to just off the sensor.

After replacing the sensor 3 times and 1 actually ways from Honda. I chased wires and rewired complete wires that took about a week to replace. I finally got one that actually worked. plug and play.

I had code P0325 on my 2000 civic EX. I read that it’s pointless to buy a part that wasn’t Honda for this issue. So far, the code is off and I don’t expect it to come back. It’s been a few weeks now.
I suspect people that are having problems are dealing with wiring issues and not the sensor itself, being that the conditions are very extreme where the sensor and harness are located.

accidentally busted my stock sensor during a head gasket replacement; called parts store and was quoted $180. i checked here and thought, for less than 10% the cost its worth a try. turns out it works great, at least so far no problems!
update, the blue plastic connector broke off and resulted in a couple weeks of troubleshooting before realizing this is what had happened. when it broke off, the wire inside was grounding causing a fuse to blow and appear like a different problem.
Even so, I ordered another and applied a layer of epoxy around the base of the blue connection, more securely attaching it to the metal half. so far, no more issues.

My original knock sensor from my 2000 EM1 needed replacing… usually I’d stick with OEM, but this was super cheap! Came in 2 days, installed it and no more CEL! I would always recommend OEM just in case this doesn’t work for you, but if you’re on a budget, try this out!
