Great Value for the $$. If not for replacing struts on the hood from a diff manufacturer that sent instructions as to how to “break in” the struts…I’m afraid I would have been on the upset side. These come with no instructions at all. You need to take both struts off, put one on, CAREFULLY close and open liftgate, put the 2nd one on and repeat the careful open and close. They come “stuck” in position from sitting/shipping.
You will not be able to manually compress them with your arm strength or body weight. They have to locked in position on the vehicle to “unlock” them. A 2nd person would be very helpful rather than using your shoulder, head and a broom to hold the liftgate. Those liftgates are heavier than they appear. Liftgate now opens all the way w/o manual assist and closes very smooth. Will see how they like our cold winter in a few short weeks.

Good enough, for sure work better that the ones I had on my Explorer, the only reason I don’t give 5 stars is that lifts the tailgate quick and you have to press a little bit hard to close it down, but for the price it’s worth it.

Installed in minutes, work perfect! Now I just barely begin to lift the tailgate and it goes up without any effort. Very pleased, highly recommended.
Update… after just over a year, one of them broke. I emailed customer support about the lifetime warranty but got no response. Had to pay for new ones. Poor customer service ruined a good review….

Prior to installing these supports, I was having to physically raise the liftgate on my ’02 Explorer to its full open position. Now, I have to stand out of the way when I pull the release handle, as the hatch goes to full open in about one second. Installation was literally a snap; just pry of the old supports and snap in the new ones. Price was right, delivery was fast. No complaints here!
